We arrived two hours late due to the M6 being closed. We rang ahead to let them know and they reassured us that we wouldn't be too late for dinner. They took our order on arrival and we tucked into a delicious plate of fish and chips once we'd settled into our room. A good night's sleep was followed by a great breakfast which set us up to explore Hadrian's Wall with key sites being very close.

We have stayed here before and that’s why we booked again based in that excellence in customer service and quality of provision. The room is comfy, as was the bed. Tea/coffee making facilities were above par. The waiter/server was knowledgeable, friendly and as always great at his customer service.
The wait for evening food was poor given the restaurant was pretty much empty (something it has never been!) the food itself wasn’t of a standard or quality befitting the cost.
I didn’t like that at the bottom of the stairs - looks like a dumping ground for the family’s items. Looks messy and u professional.
Whilst I appreciate the pub is under new management who are finding their feet - the pub now has a very different feel to it.
