This was probably my favourite place that we stayed at during our Japan travels! K's House Hostel is very well organised with great staff that were friendly and helpful. If you've arrived without knowing the sights and activities for the local area they provide useful information on that and how to get there. Its a hostel but a step above from many hostels I've stayed at over the years when I was a single person. Their facilities are modern, new and clean and provide all you need in the communal areas. There wasn't much choice for restaurants nearby for families but it was partly because we were there during a Japan public holiday.
It is definitely walkable from K's House Hostel to Hakone-Yumoto station (downhill) with luggage (as we did it) but going the other way from the station is up for debate. The hostel recommends taking a bus but we missed the bus and the next one was an hour later so we took a taxi to K's House Hostel when we arrived.

This hostel is phenomenal! Immaculately clean, lovely common areas, welcoming staff, and a relaxing onsen. The facilities are well-designed, well-maintained, and appropriate for children. A passcode is required after hours to enter the building, which contributes to the overall feeling of safety. We appreciated the free coffee and tea in the morning! Highly recommend and intend to return!
The sidewalks to the property are narrow and windy, but this is intrinsic to the area. Though this could pose difficulties for some guests, the hostel makes this information known - plan accordingly.

One of my favourite hostels from my stay in Japan! The dorm rooms are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. The inside onsen unfortunately was not usable during my stay, but the outside onsen was great. Would definitely stay here again!
