Flowers House Hoi An

The place is tranquil, beautiful staff, amazing food, very very clean, looks same as photos, it’s very relaxing, the pool is a spectacular addition and this is my favourite place yet in Vietnam, just paradise

We stayed at The Calm House in Hoi An for four weeks, and by the time we left, it truly felt like we were saying goodbye to a second home. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and always beautifully clean, with the most peaceful view over the river. We loved looking outside and watching the fishing boats pass by and the water buffalo in the distance. It was such a special way to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Hoi An. The location was perfect for us. It is away from the busy crowds and tourist areas, so you can really relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, while still having easy access to everything Hoi An has to offer. But what made our stay truly unforgettable was Flower, the manager, and her wonderful staff. From the beginning, they welcomed us with so much warmth and kindness that we quickly felt like part of their family. Flower helped us with all of our bookings, answered our questions, and was always there whenever we needed anything. After four weeks, it didn't feel like we were simply leaving a hotel — it felt like we were leaving people we had genuinely grown close to. We were truly sad to say goodbye. We have such wonderful memories of our time at The Calm House and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Hoi An. Especially if you are planning a longer stay, this is a wonderful place to slow down, feel at home, and experience a different side of Hoi An. Thank you, Flower and everyone at The Calm House, for making our four weeks so special. ❤️ We hope we can come back one day!

The rooms and facilities were great and comfortable. The host was also really helpful and very nice to us throughout. The location is a bit away from the old town but is walkable or they rent cycles. The place is overall really good

Wasn’t in the centre of old town (good if you want to avoid crowds), but still close enough that you can walk there in about 10 minutes. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the courtyard over the river was beautiful. Most of the staff were very friendly and one lady helped me book a train ticket when I couldn’t do it myself (thank you!)

The male staff member, maybe the owner (not Vietnamese) ruined our stay. He invited us for a drink of alcohol with some other men and when I said I don’t drink (at least not with men I’ve known for less than ten seconds) he made a snide remark about it which made us feel very awkward. He called the men by their first name and all the female guests ‘dear’. Maybe this is a cultural difference but it felt sexist and made us uncomfortable when we told him our names yet he kept calling us ‘dears’ instead. He also played very loud music early in the morning and was almost always outside in the courtyard singing along to loud music - it was kind of funny at first but then became annoying very quickly when you’re trying to enjoy the view of the river and buffalo in peace. This whole experience made me try and avoid him as best as I could for my entire stay, and meant I was always feeling a bit uncomfortable. Finally, I was in a mixed dorm with some girls and he came in early in the morning to open a window - luckily everyone was in bed but I don’t think male staff should come into a room with girls inside without at least knocking first. Also, when I stayed they were doing construction/mending a sewer pipe (?) so it was deafeningly loud for majority of the day. There was very little personality or social aspect about the place except for the beautiful view and a giant pizza you could order to share with a group. I wouldn’t not stay here again.
