The room was large and clean with a comfy bed. The balcony was large, limited privacy from the balcony next door, but nice view over gardens.
Breakfast was pretty average, we skipped it after 2 attempts. Made us feel a bit ill. Also 3000 semi stale pastries and warm yoghurt and not boiling water for tea didn't do it for us.
Also staying at the Atil Garden you are actually a few rooms that are owned by a large hotel 1 minute walk away across the road. Not being the main hotel you dont get to find things out (we only found out by reading reviews)...things such as where breakfast is (main hotel), you can use the pool (main hotel) they own a beach club you can use for free , there is a shuttle bus to this beach club (from main hotel) , walk is only 15 minutes anyway, room not cleaned unless.you leave your key at reception . Can't this just all be printed out and left in the rooms as an informal sheet?
Also the reception here is part time (main hotel one is 24x7). On occasion we had to hunt down the cleaner ourselves to get our key back.
Finally the main hotel has built a new restaurant on the street opposite the Atil Gardens. It won't impact the main hotel but there is noise from it as it's directly opposite Atil Gardens, so in evening if on balcony quite noisy. In the room less so and generally all over by 11pm anyway

Atii Garden is a beautiful and cosy accommodation in Nungwi. It was a 5 min walk from one of the main beaches and we really enjoyed our stay. Garden was absolutely beautiful, room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was served in another hotel, 3 minute walk from where we were. It was served buffet-style on a beautiful terrace, which we greatly enjoyed.
Our expectations for the accommodation were fully met.
Staff was at times overly pointed, so we felt less welcomed than in our other stays in Zanzibar. In addition, after requesting a payment by card we were sent a payment link by email. This felt a bit strange and somewhat unsafe. It turned out (talking to booking customer service) that it was a standard payment for Atii Garden accommodation, but we did not like that it came as a surprise for us. Looking back on the pre-arrival conversation, payment by link was indeed mentioned as an option, but it wasn't clear that it is a mandatory method for any payment by card.

The garden in front of the bungalows was amazing so good to have some greenery.
The location in town was good.
Staff were kind and accommodating especially Shakira who handled our 04:00 check in. After not finding Atii Garden reception
Access to Kabinda secure beachfront bar and lounge area was good to have
The bungalows are now run by Kabinda hotel
Contact numbers given by booking.com completely wrong
Lack of downward lampshades meant outside lights lit up rooms
Disappointed to see no investment in road infrastructure to private beach

Great location, close to Nungwi beach and the town center, with excellent restaurants nearby and small markets for souvenirs. They have a private pool but at another hotel; breakfast is served at that same hotel (just a 3-minute walk away), it was good. They offer a free shuttle to the hotelâs âprivateâ beach (a 5-minute drive). The meals and drinks are very good, though the staff here are not as friendly as at other places where we ate. Still, itâs a great place to relax. The room was very nice.
Before we arrived, we sent a message explaining we would arrive before the check-in time, and the hotel confirmed it was okay â so we expected the room to be ready. However, when we arrived, they asked us to wait until check-in time because the room wasnât ready yet, which was understandable. The problem came at check-in time when they asked us to wait another 5 minutes because they were finishing up... but after waiting 45 minutes at reception, they finally informed us the room was ready. We didnât like the way we were treated â it wasnât the wait itself that was the problem, even though it was 45 minutes past check-in, the bigger issue was the lack of honesty about the waiting time. This had never happened to us before, and we didnât appreciate it.
I donât know if this is hotel policy or not, but our room was not cleaned â something that had never happened during our stays in Tanzania before.
