This place is a hidden gem and we loved it. When we drove through the town we worried it would be noisy, but it’s tucked away in dip on the far side of the railway line and an oasis of calm. Everything has been so cleverly thought through making the most of the landscape with beautiful gardens and small river to swim in.
We upgraded to the family suit when we arrived which was built over two floors with a fantastic balcony (with beanbags) to watch the trains go past. The rooms are finished with an amazing attention to detail and immaculately clean ~ we loved the fish tank and the reclaimed sleepers.
Eranda the owner speaks excellent English and is mind of knowledge and ideas. He offers a wide range of tours and was happy to adapt them to suit our needs. My husband is a train enthusiast so Eranda adapted one of tours to give more of a train focus. He also made sure we knew exactly when a train would pass so we got a good view from the hotel grounds.
The food here was great and the Sri Lankan curries were some of the best we ate. We particularly enjoyed the Sri Lankan breakfast. They were also very good at adapting their menu for food allergies.
The staff team were brilliant and we wish we could have stayed longer - it was hard to leave!
Everything was perfect but we would have liked there to be a SriLankan food option on the dinner bed and breakfast package. Once we asked they were happy to arrange it.

We stayed here for 2 nights and our family loved it.
The children loved sitting with their feet in the fish pond and letting the pigeons out in the evening.
The room was super clean and fun. The fish tank in the wall and the train track on the floor kept the kids very entertained.
It was super quiet and so nice to watch the train go by. The garden is beautiful and we saw lots of birds.
We ate in the evenings here and the food was great.
We did one trip to the second largest waterfall which was a brilliant day out, we really enjoyed it.
We also hired Uditha a driver from train view for our entire trip of 25 days in Sri Lanka. He was brilliant, such a safe driver, coming from near Ella he was used to thin, windy roads and we always felt safe. We organised it before we arrived and he stayed with us the whole time.
