In the heart of old Khiva within the city walls, so close to sites and restaurants, hotel staff were very helpful and really nice to talk with

Location, roof terrace and breakfast were all very good.
It definitely was not a boutique hotel! It’s a rustic converted house - nothing wrong with this but everything was worn and shabby - eg the bathroom needed a total update, shower curtain not clean, towels threadbare, sheets didn’t fit the bed etc. The owner was not hospitable or welcoming - although front desk person was good. Also insisted on being paid in cash but hadn’t made this clear. The hotel doesn’t know what it wants to be and was the worst place we stayed in during our trip - and all were at a comparable price point.
