This is an amazing place! The view through the very large living room windows was spectacular at any time of day, and the location was wonderful! Kitchen was well stocked for cooking (we steamed oysters one night!), beds were comfortable, and the landscaping outside was great. It was just a short few minutes drive into town, to Rosario or to the Moran State park. Plenty of room both inside and out on the deck for 4-5 people, and price was very reasonable for how much more you get than just a hotel room!
That we couldn't stay for longer than 2 nights!

The views from both inside and outside this home were incredible, absolutely breathtaking. We sat down to a home cooked dinner every evening outside on the wraparound porch/deck and enjoyed the cool breezes and gorgeous sunsets with a glass of Orcas Isle cider. I especially appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, complete with all the kitchen gadgets and stocked spice rack, as well as the access to the washing machine and dryer to wash our own beach towels, swim suits, and hiking gear after our days of enjoying Turtleback Mountain Preserve and Moran State Park/Mt. Constitution/Cascade Lake.
Lastly but most importantly -- I truly want to thank the host home/management for making sure to post information about the Washington State Ferries system and the need to make reservations to access Orcas Island. That proved very helpful in planning our days/trip and would not have been intuitive for the average guest, especially those hailing from outside of Washington state.
The only reason I did not give this home a 10 out of 10 was because I was not aware of -- or missed -- the fact that there was no air conditioning in the home. However, it would make sense that homes built on Orcas Island -- with its beautiful mild climate -- would not necessarily need air conditioning. I am only mentioning the lack of notice about no air conditioning because we did not figure out the tricks to keeping the house cool during the warm summer days until our last day on the island. It was a bit uncomfortable sleeping on the first night because we had to cool the home down from 85 degrees (!). But again, it was all about figuring out how to get those fabulous cool breezes to circulate through the home (using the screen doors and windows, for instance), which we did figure out and actually enjoyed waking up to the home naturally cooling to 68 degrees by our last day. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the home, the amenities, the views/location, or check-in.
