The view was absolutely amazing. There was an observation deck which was fabulous to watch sunset and sunrise. The staff were really helpful, cheerful and pleasant. They even offered food after their restaurant closed. They have some drinks and snacks available for purchase at the front desk whether they are there or not.
One of the routes up the big hill was a bit overgrown but staff advised a different route anyway.

the owner and staff were warm and friendly, the owner went out of his way to make me comfortable. I arrived after the restaurant had shut and he made me a bowl of rice even though the kitchen was shut
it was a bit of a pain that the hotel was closed from 10-2 but it was fairly easy to work around

This is a very special place. Arriving here we were unsure if this is a surreal dream or reality.
The owner is the kindest and very charming. The house is somewhat different from what we had seen during our trip through Japan and a refreshing little breakout from the journey. It’s as if someone stopped time 30-40 years ago, you can really imagine the glamour this gem had once been. It’s still comfortable and clean and magical.
The view is stunning, Onomichi is such a lovely magical place. We had dinner in the restaurant with this view and enjoyed it a lot.
Would always go again!

Probably the best view in town. It seems to have paid off after several hiccups.
It's a hidden location and hard to find, we had to climb straight up, It almost felt like an adventure trip, it could be frustrating if there was too much luggage or got lost.
The hotel was completely closed when we got there at 11am, we were told we could leave our bags there but no one was available after 20 minutes of waiting.We had to walk back down to the town center with our bags with doubts.
The hotel lobby is quite smelly, it would be nice if they removed the old carpet and kept everything cleaned out and less busy decorating, our room had a gorgeous view but the wall was covered with fabric for water leaks. It could be an excellent hotel after some improvements.
