Loved the bar staff, all very friendly. Hotel was always kept clean. Multiple pool locations that you could choose from daily. Did an all inclusive the food was tasty and varied.
Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by a serious lift incident. We became trapped in a lift for approximately one hour with no clear communication or reassurance that assistance was on the way.
The lift was clearly marked with a maximum capacity of five people and a maximum weight of 450kg, neither of which was exceeded. Following the incident, we were informed that a different limit applied when travelling between floors, but this information was not displayed anywhere within or around the lift.
The situation became increasingly distressing, with one member of our group losing consciousness while we were trapped. When an engineer eventually arrived, the lift doors were manually opened while the lift was stopped between floors, requiring us to climb out to exit.
We were also told that the response took longer because it was a Saturday and an engineer was not immediately available. Given the size of the hotel, the number of lifts on site and the fact that two lifts served a 14-floor block, we would have expected more robust emergency arrangements and a faster response to a potentially serious situation.
While we did receive an apology from management two days later, which felt genuine, it came after the event and did little to address the lack of communication and support during the incident itself.
