As expected a good hotel in a quiet street with good food locations nearby (check on Tabelog), good breakfast that tries to show different aspect of the Japanese cuisine. The staff is very nice and always present. They focus on ensuring the guests are safe and can relax after a sightseeing day. Nishiki is not that far and the rest of the attractions should always be reached with public transportation like it’s normal in Japan considering how much surface cities cover in Japan. Interesting the extended luggage shipping service they have(quick shipping to the other Mitsui at the train station) but I didn’t try it.
Again, next time I’m in Kyoto I will be torn between just going to Matsui again or trying another excellent hotel…

Beautiful modern hotel with all the modern facilities. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and were very understanding when we needed to leave one night early and offered a refund for the night we didn't stay.

I realise properties in Japan are much smaller than in Australia I think that for the price charged they were not good for money
