Close proximity to great attractions. 7/11 directly across the lane. Helpful staff. Wider beds than normal. Dark room curtains. Peaceful

A gorgeous little hotel with friendly and welcoming staff, set within a beautiful Japanese garden. The peaceful surroundings made for a lovely stay, and the breakfast was also very enjoyable.
Rooms a little small - but I think that's Kyoto!

The staff and the public baths facing the traditional garden were great.
Unfortunately, there were a few things that made this hotel not so comfortable. They only provide two pillows with beanbag bottoms. The room itself was yellow from age, and privacy screens on the balcony blocked any view and light. The TV's in the bedroom don't allow for streaming services, so they're useless to a foreigner who can't speak Japanese. The breakfast is also very expensive, and although it looks amazing, the salmon was slimy and full of bones and the eggs were too runny. It was mostly microwaved cheap stuff. The coffee was really good, but not free. (Comes with the breakfast)
I stayed at 3 hotels during my trip. This hotel was the most expensive and least enjoyable.
