Great location, close to waterfront, cafes and restaurants. Lovely room with beautiful features crafted from natural wood all made by the owner. Quirky and rustic but lovely. Free drinking water, tea and coffee always available as well as use of a kitchen microwave, fridge & stove. Lots of lovely social spaces. Great place

Location, beautiful and amazing decor with handmade wood structures and lots of artefacts and interesting bits all around. Paid extra for a superior room which is a lot of extra space, own fridge and also small balcony and a large private roof terrace, which was really lovely to have. Good location just back from possible noise of waterfront but very close walk to all of it.
Beeping fire alarms in main reception and area next to courtyard, which can be heard in rooms, running out of battery was constant and annoying as went on for whole 10-night stay. Seems common in lots of places in town too though!! The roof terrace was lovely but a bit grubby - could have been cleaned prior to arrival to get it ready or at least once it was being used and it never was. Rooms are cleaned maybe every other day although not too clear on when it might / might not happen. No problem - big clearer communication on what to expect would have made it easier. Payment by card option is NOT a card machine and is a transfer link which doesn’t work for all types of card. Had to pay cash - which owners would really prefer. Would have been fine if we’d been told this in advance as could have had it ready - it was a lot of cash needed for a 10-night stay! Instead, had a bit of a stress without a payment method that would work and having to make multiple withdrawals from expensive local ATMs to get enough cash out. Just tell people in advance that payments need to be made in cash and it would have been absolutely fine!

An absolutely beautiful place in a quirky and rustic way. Each room is unique and there is a huge amount of additional spaces in the bar area, central court year and a small roof terrace. There is incredible work on details and the natural wood structures, details and decor has all been made from local wood and branches and are amazing - all crafted by Victor, one of the owners. Both owners are really helpful and will book taxis or suggest places to visit etc. There are drinking water dispensers and hot water available at all times, with free tea and coffee making facilities. Also an amply stocked kitchen which includes a fridge, microwave and gas hob that are free to use. All the small details have been thought of, including details in the rooms, including a universal plug and USB adapter in each room. Location is a good, just off the main harbour front road so within a few steps of shops and restaurants but just off the Main Street so a little quieter.
Understand it’s got rustic, beautiful wood and quirky charm. If you want white, clean lines & modern minimalism, it’s not for you! Be patient with the shower hot water - it takes a long time to come through hot and can go a little between hot / warm as it’s pumped through. Also, there are fire alarms around the rooms and social spaces, which is great. However, two of them in the main office / reception, which runs along one side of the courtyard are running out of battery so bleep every 20-30 seconds & they were left that way for 10 days we were there and then returned. I mentioned to the owner that it was quite annoying but he thought they could be ignored so they were there and continued to be left to beep constantly. It’s not uncommon to hear fire alarms in shops and places round town doing the same thing as they beep low battery warnings and are ignored. Seems to be a local thing!! They were a very constant beeping soundtrack to the days and nights spent at the lodge!

The hotel itself was cool and quirky, the main reason why I booked this place. I believe all rooms are individually decorated which is a nice touch. The location of the hotel is quiet but close enough to the fish market and a few restaurants, no where in puerto ayora is difficult to get to by walking it's only a small town.
The shower was hot once the tap had been run and I'd say that the WiFi was 'Decent' compared to other hotels on the island.
I don't like to write bad reviews, especially to a family run place. However...
I felt the price was high for what you got. You pay more because its a quirky building but that's where it ends. Credit cards are not accepted, only cash.
The sheets were old and a bit dirty but it's a hostal / 'cheaper' hotel so I don't generally don't have the highest expectations and I'm not fussy.
However I woke up in the morning to find not one, not two but 3 cockroaches in my welcome glass....
As I say, I never write bad reviews but I felt this had to be highlighted. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again and I would not recommend to others.
I only booked here for one night and I'm happy about that.
I feel like a '5' is a fair - generous score.
