Good location (Close to metro station and shops), clean, pretty large rooms.
Do not recommended it in summer - we were there in September and still could not sleep because of how hot it was inside (no AC).

As a first time solo traveller, finding somewhere that felt safe, central and comfortable to stay while in Lisbon felt really important. I can say without a doubt that whenever I do travel to Lisbon again, Ambiente is where I will stay. The hostel is a 10-20 minute drive from the airport and on a road filled with great cafe's, bars, food stores, vintage shops, metro stations and more.
Checking in using the instructions the hostel sent was very easy, and the building has a lift that takes you straight up to the hostel floor, so no need to lug heavy items upstairs! The lady at reception was also so friendly, and made me feel at ease right away after I was quite frazzled from my long tiring journey. I also found Ambiente's communication before the trip speedy and very helpful.
I booked a Queen Room with a balcony and the room was big, spacious and tidy, with a small balcony with a nice street view (please note that the Queen Room balcony is smaller than the Double Room terrace you can see photographed, though I was still able to squeeze a chair out there to have my morning coffees). Every space I used was spotless, including the shared bathrooms, which were clean and well taken care of. I was also pleasantly surprised by how quiet the hostel was while I stayed: I hardly ran into many other guests, and while you can somewhat hear street sounds, the double glazed balcony doors and shutters meant my ability to sleep wasn't impacted at all. It's really nicely decorated inside, with lots of recommendations on the walls for things like fado, food and more.
Overall, there's very little I'd change about my stay, and I'd highly recommend this hostel as a safe bet for solo travellers.
The only things I'd say would have improved my stay were better showers (the water pressure was very low and took quite a while to warm up).
It would've been nice to have a proper coffee machine (there is a big urn filled with instant coffee available at all times but I expected something a bit more). Lastly, it would've also been nice if some small pots of milk could've been provided for tea/coffee making - but I'm aware these are quite high expectations!
