What I liked about J7 Hotel was that the room size was very big, and the bathroom and shower area were also very spacious. The room came with a hot tub jacuzzi, which was a really nice feature, although I unfortunately didn’t get to use it because it was outside and I was worried about letting mosquitoes into the room.
The bed was very comfortable, and the outside areas of the property are very well maintained. It’s very pretty walking to the rooms with all the koi fish around the walkways, and overall the hotel looks very impressive compared to many of the hotels in the area. I would say it’s one of the better options around and offers very good value for money.
What I didn’t like was mainly a few things that could be improved quite easily. It’s the first five-star hotel I’ve stayed in that didn’t have a smart TV, so I couldn’t access Netflix or connect my phone, which was a downside for me as I like to watch something before going to sleep.
When we arrived, there was no water in the jacuzzi and staff asked whether we wanted it hot or cold and if they should fill it. While this was being sorted and the doors were open, a lot of mosquitoes got into the room, and on the first night the room ended up full of mosquitoes. Before bed we were spraying ourselves with DEET to avoid getting bitten. I feel like the tub should already be filled before guests arrive so you can just go out, use it, and come back in without leaving the room open.
There were also no doors separating the toilet from the shower or sink area, which meant there was basically no privacy if someone else was using the bathroom area. Also, the hotel charged $4.50 for a bottle of water, which felt quite excessive.
Overall, I feel like the hotel is good, but it lacks some of the attention to detail you would normally expect from a five-star hotel.
