The hotel met all our expectations. It’s a very classy place for guests who like the Alpine Chic style and would like to re-charge their batteries like me. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, the spa very large (including a sauna with large windows and several pools), the restaurant excellent (I found the half-board the be a good deal) and the public areas very elegant. You can definitely feel the handwriting of Elisabeth Gürtler, the owner, who is among other things the Grand Dame of the Vienna Opera Ball. We will certainly return.

The pool and spa facility
Our stay at Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld was unfortunately overshadowed by a serious issue with the room initially allocated to us. The junior suite was very dated, old, and uncomfortable, with the children’s beds cramped into the space, and felt more like a standard room with a sofa rather than an intentionally designed suite expected at this level.
The room also had a persistent sewage smell, which made it extremely uncomfortable, particularly as we were travelling with young children. Even they repeatedly complained about the smell. On one occasion, the smell was so overwhelming that I had to leave the room and sit in the lobby at 5am. Given the cold, snowy weather and having children with us, keeping the windows open overnight was not a realistic option.
We raised this concern with staff every day, and it was clearly a known issue. However, it was only after five days of repeatedly reporting the problem that we were finally moved to another room, which confirmed that the original room was not in an acceptable condition for guests. The new suite was beautiful and reflected the level of quality and comfort we had expected from the start.
What was most disappointing was the handling of the situation by management. The response lacked the level of care, accountability, and fairness one would expect from a hotel of this standard, and the approach felt dismissive rather than guest-focused.
Additionally, the children’s dinner options were very limited and repetitive, with the same fried food (nuggets and chips) and the same pasta and sauce offered each evening, which was disappointing for a hotel of this calibre.
The hotel itself is beautiful and has great potential, but the condition of the original room and the handling of the situation did not reflect the level of professionalism and guest care expected.
