Staff at the desk were friendly. Checking in and out was a snap. The location is great -- near Kyoto Station and lots of restaurants. The room was charming. The breakfast buffet was large and the food was tasty -- I even tried the Japanese breakfast once or twice.
If you stay on the east side of the hotel, all you'll see is the hotel across the street, no matter what floor you're on. Stay on the back side of the hotel to look out at the hills to the west.

The location is not too bad.
The hotel looks like it’s been running for quite a few years without upgrading the facilities. I was looking for a 5-star hotel/stay, but the room didn’t meet my expectation. You need to walk through a very long hall to get to the room, and the furniture in the room looks a bit old as well.
The worst thing is that there is stain on the chair, which makes me question the hygiene and cleanness of the hotel. Anyway, I wouldn’t rate my stay as a positive experience.
