Situated on one of the highest and most beautiful spots in Matera, you look right out over the valley. The room opens onto a shared veranda, which is used by both guests and local residents, offering a fantastic vantage point to look over everything. A shuttle bus runs up from the multi-storey car park recommended by the owner, dropping you off very close to the room. That said, you still have to navigate a few flights of stairs down through the old town to actually get there, so it takes a bit of finding. Just like the room itself, the town poses an extra challenge for anyone who is less mobile, but it is absolutely worth the effort.The air conditioning is great, and the bed is perfectly comfortable. You are staying in the oldest part of the town here, which is incredibly impressive. When it’s time to leave the city, you simply call the garage and the shuttle comes back to pick you up, capping off your stay with a proper James Bond-style manoeuvre straight into the car park. This was no doubt inspired by No Time to Die from 2021, which was partly filmed right here in Matera

The room had a view over the hills and the roofs down to the valley below.
The location was great, but the directions to reach/walk from the taxi drop-off to the main gate were unclear, and a map, etc would have been really helpful.
The contact we called was super helpful, though, and they were able to accommodate an early check-in, which was great.
The host could have provided more general information for first-timers to Matera, i.e., transfer options from the Matera Bus terminal to the accommodation. Luckily, we were only travelling light on this occasion so the hassle and frustration were short-lived.

The room was very clean and quiet.
1) The bed was uncomfortable.
2) The representative assigned was unable to provide a firm check-in time until the afternoon of my reservation. I requested 1500 check in when I booked the room, but Cinzia was unable to provide a firm check-in time until the afternoon of my reservation due to “multiple appointments”. It was very annoying to be expected to remain flexible for a check-in at a paid hotel; we had to adjust our plans in Matera that day because she wasn’t sure she could fulfill my requested appointment.
