Palácio de Sintra Boutique House

It's hard to judge our stay here. They accommodated my request for a bathtub, which I appreciated. We had a huge bathroom and a claw-footed tub, plus enough hot water to fill it! (You'd be surprised how many places have lovely bathtubs you can't have anything but a cold bath in.) Our bedroom was on the ground floor and slept 3, with a large king bed in the main area and a tiny room down a hall with a single. The tiny room had a window, but the main area was dark and windowless. We didn't love that, but we weren't there to sit in the room so it was okay, especially as the location really is great, right in the heart of the tourist area. We did notice that the bathroom floor was wet a lot when no one had showered, making it slippery and dangerous. The explanation arrived when we returned to our room after dinner on the second night and found water pouring from the light fixture in the bathroom. There was nothing we could do, as the staff go home in the evening and there's no way to contact anyone from the hotel after hours, which wasn't so great. The next day we asked to move rooms and the young woman staffing the desk - I regret I have forgotten her name - was very helpful (as well as just generally being lovely and friendly). We loved the next room. We were all in one big room with a huge window and glass doors out to a private patio. I had to forgo a bathtub, but it was worth it. This room had an absurdly narrow bathroom, ironically. The wall was about a foot beyond the toilet seat, making standing up after we used it quite challenging. So, a few pros and a few cons, but it was decent value for the money in the end.

Very traditionally furnished boutique property, very centrally located to all that Sintra has to offer for a short stay.

Lack of fridge and coffee in room

It’s got a lot of character and is in a fab location close to the centre. Easy to get to the restaurants and shops

Spacious room, bathroom with good shower head, and a good bed. Location good too. Some of the staff members was friendly and helpful.

I was unlucky, to get the room with mold. Every corner and edge was molded. The bathroom zink drain was leaking water all over, and humidity was high and not able to get rid of. This is definitely a room considering not staying in. It was room D. LUIS. One staff stood out as not friendly. When I asked for towels the quick answer was “NO, we haven’t received them from laundry yet.” I had to beg for a towel as I was cold and wet after my ride to Sintra from Cascais. Customer service is helping and smiling to clients, that was not something she knew.
