For us the only thing lacking was a fitness center, but it’s Paris and you walk so much so we didn’t miss it

The location.
It was dated and warn. I would not consider this hotel or stay 5 stars. We paid for a prestige double room, which was large for Europe, but the room was placed in the back of the hotel off a separate stair case. The view was non-existent. I did ask to move rooms, but the hotel could not accommodate the change for the first night. The restaurant was sleepy and the service was extremely slow.
The hotel was apparently renovated/enhanced in 2023, but it didnt’ show. Every chair and sofa cushion in our room and in the common areas was stained or showed significant wear. There was a false ceiling in one of the two bathrooms in our room and it had a hole where you could see above.
The morning room service was the only positive.

The hotel’s location is favorable. The free upgrade to a suite, welcome fruits, and staff proactively helping carry large luggage (solving the inconvenience of stairs to the elevator) are thoughtful service details worthy of recognition.
1. Welcome letter details: As the booking & main contact, the welcome letter only had my friend’s name. Compared with the five - star hotels I stayed in Hong Kong, Oslo and Hobart (where staff recognized and greeted warmly on a second stay in a short time), this oversight is unprofessional. Given the big difference in spelling between my name and my friend’s, it shouldn’t have been messed up.
2. Communication rationality: When apologizing at check - out, the staff mentioned “the city tax receipt is only for me, seemingly implying I pay alone”. The vague and unfriendly expression is easy to cause misunderstanding. Communication needs to be clearer, more respectful, and avoid ambiguity.
