About this house rental
Located in Nanaimo, this charming house for $110 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Come relax, create or base your island excursions from this fully appointed two bedroom suite retreat. Located in one of the quietest, prettiest, most convenient locations in Nanaimo; it is the home of resident host Ray Patrick. The suite was purposed with your comfort and carefree stay foremost in its preparation. Complete with luxurious bedding, fluffy pillows, heated floor bathroom, tub/ shower, spa quality toiletries, cushy robes and slippers. Your kitchen is fully appointed with a full size fridge, stove and all you'll need to create your favorite meals. If you don't feel like cooking then adventure out to experience some of the many fine dining restaurants which Nanaimo has to offer. Your suite includes a spacious living area with gas fireplace, flat screen HDTV, cable with many viewing channels, Wi-Fi, area maps, brochures, games, books and puzzles. Also a washer and dryer are in suite, for your convenience. Enjoy relaxing on your private covered deck with ocean, mountain, and forest views, after you’ve taken in the sights and sounds of wonderful Nanaimo. There are many beautiful parks, lakes, places to visit in Nanaimo less than 15 minutes away. You’re a 6 min walk, 2 min drive to one of the nicest parks, “Neck Point Park", which is right across the street. Many people enjoy hiking up to the bluff there and watching the breathtaking sunsets. You may catch sight of a pod of orca or dolphin swimming right by you as you gaze and share a bottle of your favorite beverage. It’s such a romantic, place we feel lucky to live here. "Pipers Lagoon Park" and "Linley Valley Park" are just a three minute drive. Bring the swim suits, snorkel, kayak, boat and fishing rods for your own marine discoveries. Nanaimo has all the shopping amenities you’ll need, and lots of excursions you can take, including a trip to Mount Washington for skiing just over an hour away. With its central location, Nanaimo is a perfect base point for other trips all over the island. Savvy Seagull is an adult oriented guest suite, though children are welcome. Ask owner about its suitability regarding the age of your children. Unfortunately, sorry but the suite is not wheelchair accessible. There are stairs to descend to get to the suite. The hosts live up stair and have pets of their own, therefore your pets are not able to accompany you in your stay. Savvy Seagull is a smoke free environment. Great location with view of the trees of Neck Point. lots of room in 2-bedroom suite for 2 of us. One bed very firm and 1 softer. Really enjoyed gas fireplace. Full kitchen with almost everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner.
Only negative were the 32 steps down to our rental suite entrance as it is on a steep lot. The owner and family kindly helped us get our luggage and food supplies down the steps.

We really enjoyed the view, the fireplace and the overall peace of the house. It was very private and quiet.

Accommodation very good, and would be fine for up to four. Main issue was first impressions of house front at street level. We did not realize that the rental was down many steps to the bottom level at the back. So view was more limited than expected. Steps down make it difficult for older couples like us, although we were able to leave through the back laneway so did not have to carry bags back up the steps.

We came to Nanaimo to see relatives. After a day of touring, it was great to come back to the "seagull", to relax and recharge for the next day of sightseeing. The proximity to Neck Point also gave us a chance to exercise.
We'd book this property again if we come back to Nanaimo in the future.

This property was just as stated the VRBO listing. Cleanliness is of first importance to us and the "Savvy Seagull" met this criteria. The host, Ray and her spouse were gracious without being intefering. I highly recommend this property for anyone who wants to rest or explore Vancouver Island. Good location for access to Victoria or the inland (Sproat Lake, etc.)>

The host was very accommodating and seemed genuinely concerned that everything was ok. The suite was very well-equipped with almost everything you need or forgot (even had shaving cream!) It's not quite waterfront as pictures might suggest, however within a 5m drive to numerous waterfront parks. The suite lacks a dishwasher and is located in the lower suite of the host's home. It is a walkout so NOT a basement suite. The two separate bedrooms are a bonus. There is a walkway on the side of the house which leads to the suite. There are quite a few stairs to navigate. Overall the location to the waterfront parks is a great feature, obviously, price is a consideration and at the time we booked the $ per night was a great value.

The unit is just as advertised. Comfy two bedrooms with shared bathroom. Location is great. Enjoyed our stay here. As said in prior reviews, the stairs are a lot. Not bad on a day to day basis but when it’s time to carry your luggage back up … ugh. But you only have to do it once. Otherwise great location and Ray met us at check in and was super friendly. Would stay again.

We had a fabulous time on Vancouver island, love the scenery, the beach in walking distance and of course the great accommodation. Everything was well equipped, our host Ray went out of his way to show us more and supplied us with additional gas for our grill when we needed it. I can absolutely recommend the accommodation in Nanaimo.

We had an enjoyable stay at Savvy Seagull Suite, a cozy and well-equipped retreat. It's not quite waterfront as pictures might suggest and lacks a dishwasher. However, it compensates with luxurious amenities, and reliable Wi-Fi for remote work. Recommended!

Location and accommodation with Ray and James was good, we were satisfied with it. Overall the only negative we had was the sound of loud walking above us. It was alright during the daytime but most annoying during the night. We were expecting the stairs outside so that was not an issue for us.

We enjoyed staying here. We have stayed here before and had no problems, but last weekend unfortunately, the Wifi was unreliable, and that particular community has poor cellular data reception, so I could not even use my cellphone as a hotspot, and was unable to get the work done that I had hoped to do. Ray was very apologetic, and I feel that likely the issue was out of her hands in any case.

The little house was super comfortable and very clean. Nice place. There are 2 flights of stairs to get down to the entryway, but well lit at night. Enjoyed our stay.

The suite was very clean and very comfortable. All amenities were there as described. It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood, a few minutes by car from shops and restaurants. The only caveat is that the suite is not at street level, more than 20 steps to go down. Not practical for people with some mobility issues.

The suite has a fairly well equipped kitchen and is well appointed with conveniences. Overall it was fairly clean and comfortable. The information that i got in the confirmation email from VRBO wasn't all up to date. There were some communication difficulties due to that, but it all worked out. We loved the nearby Neck Point park, and swimming in the ocean. It is easy to get to from the ferry. One safety concern - the hot water is scalding hot - it should be turned down. The honours cat is a character, very nice.

We were pleasantly surprised by the new pool and the trampoline (especially our kids!). The property was clean with comfortable beds and soft towels, even beach towels were provided. Kitchen was well equipped. The hosts were very welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. Location is great as Neck Point is a beautiful close by walk. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Nanaimo. Thanks for sharing your home!

A great stay with the best location for eBiking and convenience to amenities. Hosts were extremely cordial. The only negative found was the workout of numerous steps required to access the lower unit. Consequently the value of pricing is reflected. Patio with BBQ even provides a partial view of the bay. Savvy seagull
My concerns were not with the actual place to stay, but with vrbo itself. My hosts were not told that we were coming and there' was confusion when we arrived even though in was sent a confirmation email.

Amazing stay - clean, great attention to detail and smooth

Wonderful stay
We were very happy with this property. The location was so close to Neck Point Park and Linley Valley Park, and it was easy to get in and out of town via Hammond Bay Road. The interior was clean, modern, and welcoming, with all the touches you could want to enjoy your stay! The beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot, with good water pressure. The deck was a wonderful area to sit on and enjoy the view. Ray was a fabulous host, and was very helpful. At times we could hear the owners walking above us, but it was otherwise nice and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!
