About this house rental
Situated in Southern Shores, this lovely house for $296 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Sunrise Surf House is semi-oceanfront, 4BR 2.5 bath right across the street from the beach, with great views! The beach access is only 2 houses down and across the street. Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center is only three houses away, and has a nice seafood restaurant (Steamers), pizza, ice cream, shopping, and even an escape room! Our large pool will be heated in the fall and spring., closed in the winter, usually November-April. For 2024 the pool will be open from 4/ 27 through 10/12. We offer stays with checkin on Saturday from May 12, 2024 to September 14, 2024. We also have a 6 person hot tub on the pool deck, which is closed Jan/Feb. Discounts: we offer a 5 percent discount off the nightly rate for previous guests. Just mention it in your initial message! 1. Use the outdoor shower and leave any sandy shoes, toys and towels outside. 2. NO PARTIES or events. 3. Easy check in! We have keyless entry. We will send you the code that day via VRBO messaging. It will work after 4pm on your arrival day. 4. Easy check out! You will need to leave by 10am after your last night, since we will need to prepare for our next guests. There will be a fine of $100 per hour for late checkout, unless agreed to by host. Before leaving, take all of your food out of the refrigerator and cabinets, and put any you don’t want in the trash, take out the trash (regular and recycle) to the bins in the driveway and put the dishes in the dishwasher and put the soap pellet in, and start it. Text Mary when you leave. 5. NO NOISE after 10pm and before 8pm. Please respect our neighbors. 6. NO SMOKING of any kind in the house or on the decks, in the yard or driveway, or at the pool. No candles. 7. We have a gas grill for you to use. We have an extra propane tank. Let us know if you need it, and need help changing tanks. Please clean grill after each use. 8. Dogs: Two house trained, quiet adult dogs allowed. No cats or other animals. No dogs on furniture. Must be up to date on flea and tick medicine and immunizations. No dangerous or destructive dogs. Pet fee of $150./stay. No dogs inside pool fence. 9. Fines: If we or our cleaning professionals find evidence (fumes, cigarette butts, etc.) of smoking anywhere in or around the house, we will fine you $250 for the extra cleaning required. If you bring any animals other than the type and number listed in #8 above, we will fine you $250 for the extra cleaning required, as we incur a legal liability if future guests have allergies to those animals. There will be a $100 per hour fine imposed for late check out (after 10am ) unless agreed to by host. 10. Weather Policy: There will be no refunds for cancelling or leaving early due to bad weather, except in the event of a Mandatory Evacuation. In this case, you might be refunded for the part of your stay covered by the mandatory evacuation. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase travel insurance prior to your trip. 11. Security: For security and liability reasons, all guests must be registered through HomeAway/Vrbo. Also, please do not bring new friends to our home, and treat it in a law abiding manner. No illegal drugs, no firearms, no underage drinking. Mary and Andy are not responsible for any and all harm, injury or loss sustained while in our home. It is best to lock the doors each time you leave, including slider to pool. Andy and Mary DO NOT ALLOW gatherings or parties without host consent prior to booking. - Unregistered guests (i.e. guests not included at the time of booking) are not permitted on the premises at any time. - All guests should be registered (added to the reservation) at the time of booking. If not on the reservation, you will need to message me the names through the VRBO message system before check-in. - We do not rent to party groups. We live close by, and if we or our neighbors discover a party, we will notify Homeaway/Vrbo and your reservation will be cancelled. 12. Please follow the trash guidelines posted in the kitchen closet. Roll trash barrels to the street Thursday (in the sumner) and Sunday. Roll the green recycling barrel out on Thursday. 13. Upon arrival, please check If there are any problems, and contact Mary right away by text or phone. 14. From May 12 to September 14, 2024, we offer weekly stays with Saturday check-in. Do not book after 12/31/24. Rates are not yet set. Sunrise Surf is for making memories! We hope you love it as much as we do! The online photos and description accurately represent the property, and the price is right for the accommodations. Mary is a great host and responded immediately to any communications. The beach access is right across the street, and although the street is very busy, traffic stops at the crosswalk for pedestrians. We were pleasantly surprised that the pool was already open for the season on our stay and it was clean and heated.
It would have been helpful for our group to know the layout. I haven't seen it described by others, but maybe I missed it. The ground floor is basically a game room, with a very helpful fridge for drinks and snacks by the pool. There is a curving staircase to the second floor, where all four bedrooms and two bathrooms are. Then there is another curving staircase to the top floor where the kitchen, dining and living areas are. One of our family members has bad knees, and the two sets of stairs and the way the stairs were curved was difficult to navigate, but our fault for not asking before booking.
But it was great to have the game room separated, so that older teens could stay up and come and go without disturbing those of us who wanted to go to bed early. The kitchen is small but well equipped.
The location has very easy access to both Kitty Hawk/KDH and to Duck. In addition to the restaurants already mentioned, Vilai's Thai was very close by and great thai food.

Mary and her husband were exceptional hosts! My sister and her boyfriend arrived a bit earlier then the rest of us .. but they were pleasantly greeted by Mary and her husband.. Making sure they can get into the house easily and to let them know to reach out if any issues arise. The house was perfect for my family of 6 and our 2 Dogs. Very neat and clean!
The view is my absolute favorite part, I recommend waking up to watch the sunrise, you won't regret it!
The walk to the beach is about 2 minutes! We used the supplied wagon to bring all of our chairs / beach games!
This house had it all, the space, the views, the pool, the hot tub the short walk to the beach.. If you are looking for a place to stay I would 100% recommend this home.

Sunrise Surf is in an ideal location…a bike ride away from Duck and just a short drive to Corolla, KDH and Nags Head. With beach access just across the street (2 houses down) and it’s own pool and hot tub, you could not ask for more!
The house itself is clean and large, three floors that perfectly fit our two families. All bedrooms rooms are equipped with modern televisions and Wi-Fi is strong.
Mary and Andy were perfect hosts, always available and very friendly!

This is a great beach house, it’s a 2 minute walk to the beach and has a nice view of the water. Pool was large and clean. The kitchen is small but serviceable. There’s an extra fridge downstairs. Beds are comfortable, rooms are bright and it was nice to be able to bring our dogs. It’s walking distance from a great restaurant, Steamers, an ice cream parlor and an escape room. Would definitely stay again.

So much fun!
Family of 6 adults and 3 children had a great time. The beach house is comfortable and has a good location- 5 minute walk to beach. Also, walking distance to restaurants and Walgreens.
Additionally, pool was perfect! We spent mornings at beach and afternoons at pool.

Good Times
Mary was an excellent host. She made sure we had everything we needed while also giving us space. The heated pool and hot tub was our favorite part. The house is very close to the beach. The only negative is hearing all the traffic go by but with good music, good company, and good vibes it should not be a problem. 5 stars!

Sunrise Surf House – Ideal Central Location for OBX Vacation!
Sunrise Surf House was convenient to all areas of OBX and was the perfect location with very close beach access right across the street, short walking distance to local restaurants, and a very short drive to Walmart and grocery stores. The house was very clean with plenty of amenities --- plush towels, bathrobes, hot tub on the pool deck, private pool with floats and fun pool toys, beach equipment, game room on the ground floor, pet-friendly, and so much more plus an awesome ocean view from the upper deck. After a day at the beach or sightseeing, it was nice to relax in the hot tub and the pool. The fresh flowers on the kitchen table added a very special touch. Mary and Andy were exceptional hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one! They were very quick to respond to any questions that we had. Thank you, Mary and Andy, for your gracious hospitality!

Mary and Andy are wonderful to work with. The home has everything you need. The pool and hot tub were great and they provide floats as well. We did not use them but they have a beach cart and beach chairs also. We loved relaxing on the deck listening to the waves crash. We had a great mini-vacation and look forward to renting from them again!!
