I’ve stayed at many extraordinary hotels in Japan and experienced some truly wonderful hospitality, but Hotel Muso somehow managed to surpass them all.
The location is fantastic, the design and planning of the hotel are thoughtful in every detail, and it feels like a true boutique hotel in the best possible sense. The level of comfort is exceptional — honestly, I have yet to stay at a five-star hotel that feels this comfortable.
Breakfast being served in the room every morning was one of my favorite parts of the stay. Everything was prepared with such care and attention that it genuinely made us start the day happy.
A very special thank you to Ryota-san. With his kindness, warm smile, wonderful recommendations and constant help, exploring Kyoto felt incredibly easy and effortless. We are also very grateful for the care and precision he showed in arranging the delivery of our luggage to our next hotel.
There is no question where I will stay on every future trip to Kyoto: Hotel Muso.
We will always remember you with great affection. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Clean, beautidul arcitecture. Great host and very central location. Very nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. The host, Ryo, was very helpfull and found some really great resturants for us.
Breakfast only between 0830 - 1030, but it was really easy to get food at all times from the 7/11 next door. Also great cafés very close by with good breakfasts. So not any problem really.

The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The location was perfect! Could walk to everything. Best location other than actually staying in gion. I was very happy I chose this place. We booked the deluxe room and loved it. The bathroom was amazing! Shower was the best. I would say good morning to the toliet!!
There was nothing I didn’t like. But I think they should not advertise breakfast included. Breakfast is not until 8:30am and we we gone by 6 to make sure we beat the crowds. It made me feel like I missed out on value (which I didn’t). The staff was accommodating and offered to bring us a few beers instead. They probably do it to compete with other places that do or don’t offer breakfast but I didn’t get it. Not a big deal at all but seemed odd. Seriously. With or without breakfast this place is great!

Carpet in halls and room good be a little cleaner
Some smudge marks on drywall in the halls
