De upgrade van de kamer, net een kamer in een paleis. Mooi uitzicht op de tuinen. Welness die tot 11 uur open is, is ook heel fijn. Welness is niet heel groot, maar er was 1 sauna voor 5, 1 stoomcabine voor 2, 1 bubbelbad en een koud waterbad. Leuke geschiedenisdingetjes die je terugvindt in het hotel. Mooi restaurant, dichtbij het station.
Personeel bij het ontbijt. Deze jongens waren onbeleefd en dachten niet mee met de gast. De vraag of er glutenvrij ontbijt was, werd beantwoord met:" mijn collega is geirriteerd en hij geeft geen antwoord." Erg vreemd... een collega probeerde het nog goed te maken door te zeggen dat ze geloofd dat er wel glutenvrij brood is, maar wist dit ook niet met zekerheid te zeggen. Toen ik zei: "zal ik dan naar de receptie lopen om het te vragen". Vonden ze het een goed plan." Absurd, de receptie was niet bepaald dichtbij. Toen hielpen ze mij voortreffelijk en hadden ze gelijk een goed en duidelijk antwoord en mochten we zelfs, later uitchecken zodat we nog rustig konden ontbijten. Dat was echt fijne service. Ontbijtzaal is ruim, ontbijtbuffet zelf vond ik niet bepaalf 5 sterren waardig.

This is a beautiful hotel. Parking right outside the hotel, very easy to get to. Staff were lovely. Good sized rooms, loo was separate from the shower - bonus whether sharing with a friend or partner.
Very well equipped, comfortable beds, selection of pillows. Great location, a few minutes from the centre of Utrecht and the main rail station. 25 mins into Amsterdam. Utrecht and its canals are far calmer than Amsterdam. Lovely bars and quaint shops.

Under-bed was a thick coat of dust that had not been cleaned for months
Carpet was soiled in front of bedroom door
Spa centre was in another building had to brave the elements to get there & was being renovated(no mention at booking)
Spa was not well managed
Staff attitude was mixed - some enthusiasm but mixed in with disinterest and inexperience
When I shared my concerns reaction was unconvincing
Discount received was disappointing given it had taken the edge of an important family celebration

Er was lawaaihinder in de kamer, ik veronderstel van het verwarmingstoestel. Wij hebben dit gemeld en ze gingen het oplossen

Was a little chilly in the room, but did manage to heat it up a bit in the end.

Prachtig hotel midden in het centrum met parkeergelegenheid bij het hotel.
Fijne kamers, heerlijke douche en gordijnen waar geen licht door komt.
Deur van de ontbijtzaal dicht laten wanneer het koud is. Eerste dag mocht de deur niet dicht terwijl het toen 7 graden vroor. Het was er steenkoud.
Ontbijt aanvullen, diverse soorten kaas en broodjes waren op en het werd niet aangevuld terwijl het geen goedkoop ontbijt is en we nog een uur de tijd hadden en er voldoende personeel was en ze het niet druk hadden.

Het personeel is fantastisch, behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Ze doen er alles aan jouw verblijf super te maken. Kamer ruim opgezet en welness faciliteit is zo fijn. Lopend door de stad moet je wel van Utrecht houden.
Het was heel goed, dus ik kan niets aanbevelen voor verbetering.

Prachtig sfeervol hotel op echt een heerlijke lokatie. Binnen een paar passen in het centrum van Utrecht. Alles klopt aan dit hotel! ontbijt was heerlijk in een prachtige ruimte

Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal - gute Ausstattung. Das Grand Hotel Karel liegt mitten in der Innenstadt und von dort aus ist alles sehr gut erreichbar.
Das Frühstück war grandios - für die Waffeln könnte man sterben

Alles! Alles! Ein unglaublicher Hotelkomplex in einem alten Kloster etc. Mit viel Liebe restauriert. Die Zimmer in hochmodernen Zustand, liebevoll vorbereitet. Ebenso der öffentliche Bereich. Sehr zuvorkommendes hilfsbereites Personal. Ein sehr schönes Bistro mit bester Qualität. Ein wunderbarer Garten und Innenhof. Absolute Ruhe dort. Als 80-jährigem mit viel Hotelerfahrung ist mir kein Hotel in Erinnerung, dass mir so gut gefallen hat!!!

De locatie
Stof in de kamer op glazen en koffiezet apparaat, voor de 2e keer problemen met de faktuur op de firma, wellness is kil, en sauna moet je eerste zelf opwarmen, dus minimaal een uur wachten....deur van sauna sluit niet goed, en de stoomcabime was buiten werking.....
Daarbij 9 euro voor klein glaasje cava in de bistro, is ons probleem als mensen dat betalen is het prima
wij gaan wat anders zoeken voor de toekomst, is geen 5 sterren voor ons

Disappointed that they only had us booked in for one night and they tried to charge us the rack rate for the two further nights we had booked for, some 250 euros difference per couple.However this was eventually corrected.

Ook de locatie is top en het personeel heel vriendelijk.
Onze kamerdeur stond telkens open na terugkeer naar de kamer. Vermoedelijke door de tocht in het vernieuwde gebouw.

De locatie en haast geen geluidsoverlast.
Het personeel gaf aan kamer te kunnen ruilen, mocht het niet bevallen. Heel fijn!
Fijn dat er ook laadstations aanwezig zijn.
Parkeren voor een prima prijs. Uitrijkaart ten alle tijden te gebruiken.
Letterlijk loopafstand richting het centrum.
Redelijk goed onderhouden hotel. Mooie tuin ook. Praktisch dat je via de "achtertuin" te voet zo in het centrum bent.
Over het algemeen een schoon hotel als je geen allergieën hebt. In mijn geval nog wel stoffig. (Bedhoofd, kastjes)

Geschichte und das Moderne sehr gut und interessant vereint , sehr sauber , sehr freundliches Personal, umfangreiches Frühstücksbüffet plus frisch zubereitete warme Angebote, sowohl Altstadt bzw. Grachten, wie auch moderne Mall sehr gut zu Fuss zu erreichen .

het bijgebouwde deel waar we de kamer hadden vond ik niet sfeervol. het had net zo goed in een goed maar doorsnee (‘van der Valk’)hotel kunnen zijn, je merkte daar niks van de mooie rijke historische plek waar je verbleef.

Nel bar per il dopo cena, bisogna andare a cercare i camerieri.
Scarsa scelta di whisky e toniche da abbinare ai vari gin
Per all'altezza di un vero 5 stelle. Peccato!
