The view of the vineyard from our room was absolutely magical and tranquil. The estate is spacious allowing for quiet walks around the property, garden or laying out by their pool. The room surprisingly had a kettle and a mini fridge which was helpful after travelling to the area from another short term rental. The staff and owner were friendly and the dinners were exceptional made by the chef, esp the salmon and sea bass dishes!! We ended up staying an extra night because it was so peaceful and beautiful.
The only shortfall was the Internet was non existent around the property and where our room was located (only available in the front lobby). However we were notified the hotel was aware of this issue and working on a solution.
Otherwise we had a slightly broken toilet seat cover (one side not bolted down). Lastly a few more hot breakfast options would have been great for non European travellers. We stayed at another hotel during our Portugal road trip and their complimentary continental breakfast included eggs and bacon and sausages. Having these options would be great as I didn't feel there was enough protein options for a hearty breakfast.

Our stay at Hotel Rural da Quinta do Silval was a truly memorable experience. Without a doubt, its greatest asset is the location—the view of the Douro Valley vineyards from our room is something everyone should experience when visiting Portugal.
The hotel owners were incredibly welcoming, and the food was outstanding. Before our arrival, Mr. Rui contacted us with the dinner menu and offered us the opportunity to reserve a table for that evening, which we gladly did. The dinner exceeded our expectations and was absolutely delicious.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an authentic and relaxing stay in the Douro Valley.
