We loved the accommodations and also the restaurant "Asi" at the beach end of the hotel, incredible people, service fresh juices and breakfasts! Eric, our bell hop was great, he made some top notch recommendations, and we missed him when he was not there. He is an asset to the El Taj staff. Great concierge at El Taj as well. The washer and dryer came in handy on our two day trip after rinsing sand out of clothes from the beach, and the water dispenser was a nice surprise. Easy access to 5th avenue, Mamita Beach and restaurants. The ambiance and grilled seafood platter for two is a must at Kascabal. Everything is walking distance, but also cabs are quick and easy to catch, and the hotel has a golf cart that can give you a ride to a couple of locations as well. Absolutely amazing experience with a walk in medical clinic Eric recommended to clear my ear after being plugged from swimming! It was $42 and the care was quick and exceptional directly before our flight! >> Playa International Clinic (10 Avenida Norte #329). Dr. Oscar Trujillo was an absolute joy! Oh! dont miss the big turtle in the pond on level 1. :)
We didn't have enough time there! :) Could have used 1-2 more nights. :) ALSO! Not the hotels fault, but the food and entertainment in Playa Del Carmen are pricey, our meals were $20-$30 more expensive than what we pay for same caliber in Denver, CO, literally rated one of the most expensive US cities. The food was great everywhere, but we were not expecting the inflated price.

Great location on the beach in a quiet area but only a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Playa. My room was very comfortable and beautiful.
While it’s on the water, there is no sand/beach there to walk or relax on. You would need to walk further up to access the beach. The pool was nice but quite small and there were only six sun beds.

We had a great stay! The hotel was very comfortable and in an excellent location. The parking was convenient and well organized, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we would definitely recommend this hotel!
The only downside was that a few things, such as the coffee machine and the grill, did not work properly. The staff came promptly to try to help, although the issue was not always resolved.

Housekeeping kept rooms very clean, property was nice- good location .
The bell staff took some of our property. We were first placed in a penthouse room and after we started unpacking they informed us that hot tub did not work- we rushed to repack items and I accidentally left a pair of semi expensive shoes and a power charger in first room. The elevators did not work and we were on the 3 floor with 3 large suitcases. When I noticed my shoes and charger were missing a few days later- I was told they were not there- no one else had occupied that room so one of the 2 bell staff that assisted us obliviously took them. I tipped super well so was a little disappointed. The elevators in both buildings
did not work consistently so take that into consideration before booking penthouse. Also ask if everything is working before taking room assignment.
