Central location, great speedy wifi, friendly staff, comfortable room. Facilities were very basic but the bed was very comfortable and there was a small portable fan/air conditioner unit to keep things cool.
The place is a bit run down and could do with some maintenance. Walls and floors are a bit worn, parts of the shower unit were coming loose from the wall. The TV didn’t work and there are electric leads running everywhere across the room. It’s a single-size room with a double bed put into it, so not much room to move, and the room could have done with a table. But it’s a fine basic place to stay close to central London - probably less than half the price of a lot of nearby hotels.

The host at the desk was lovely and welcoming. Hotel Sophia is in a fantastic location for Paddington Station and the Underground. There are plenty of places to eat in the immediate vicinity.
There wasn't anything we particularly disliked because we paid for a basic functional hotel and had already read previous reviews before booking. Please bring your own shampoo and conditioner. You do get a little soap bar and towels.
