This had more of a home stay feel, with the guest house run by a really delightful family, who were always so obliging.
It was clean, tidy and my room had a fridge and aircon. There’s also a shared balcony for breakfast overlooking some trees with lots of birds around.
It’s only 5 mins walk from the west end of Marissa beach, if you cut through the restaurants that line the beach, and a 15-20 mins walk to the not so secret Secret beach.
Also catch the local bus all the way along the coast to Galle and beyond, just at the end of the street.
Can’t think of a single thing.

We loved our stay at Sethun House! Everything was perfect, the room was exceptionally clean, our hosts were extremely nice and helpful, the breakfast each morning changed and it became an exciting part of our day to see what delicious food options we would be surprised with, our room was cleaned every 2-3 days, they offer a laundry service, and on one occasion i was even able to get an item of clothing mended which was greatly appreciated. The property is also in a convenient location, tucked away down a driveway which means you don't hear the noise from the main street, but you are an easy 2-3 min stroll to the main street and also a quick 2-3 minute stroll to the beach/surf break. Our hosts also helped us book a taxi to our next destination and our driver was extremely nice too (we understand he can also assist with day trips to Galle and other local spots). We could not recommend this property more! Thank you so much for such an enjoyable stay :)

Very friendly people in a great location away from the road - plenty of birds and wildlife to watch from the balcony.
The best breakfast we were served in Sri Lanka.
As with so many places, the dog next door barking through the night.

Comfy bed and clean. Fitting mosquito net. Kind owner, who let me pay for just 2 nights rather than planned 7 days.
Small bedroom, taken up by a huge bed. The balcony was not attached to the room, it was off a communal space and not private. View not great from balcony or bedroom. When I opened my bedroom window I was met by the sight of a woman squatting down for a pee in the alley. The breakfast was tastless and limited, the worst I've had in Sri Lanka. There was the noise of music from nearby bars at some parts of the day.
Going on previous reviews I was expecting something different, I was disappointed. I'd already spent 5 weeks in Sri Lanka and stayed in some fabulous accommodation at a cheaper cost with fabulous breakfast.
I was very happy the owner agreed to let me go after 2 nights.
