Beautiful property in a lovely setting. Staff were very professional attentive and friendly. Health spa nice. Beds comfy.

Carpets feel very thin - especially on an old property with uneven floors - should use better quality underlay - makes it feel cheap underfoot. Prestige room for the price point really should have a Nespresso machine instead of dated B&B tea tray. Exterior is getting quite dilated - rotting paint peeling windows etc. shame not to upkeep this beautiful property.

Loved the staff. Front of house particularly left a good impression. Spa was great. Pool was chill. Grounds were magical.

We had a lovely stay at Hanbury Manor. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and, unsurprisingly, it’s very popular with golfers. Our first impression was probably the least relaxing part of the stay. Reception was very busy, with queues, children, people and golf equipment everywhere, and after a long journey it felt a little overwhelming. I couldn’t help comparing it with some hotels we’ve stayed at in Asia, where on arrival you’re often taken to one side, invited to sit down, offered a drink and shown where the facilities are while everything is sorted out. Even a small gesture like that would give arriving guests a few minutes to decompress before checking in, particularly when reception is so busy. Before coming, I was slightly concerned by reviews describing the hotel as “tired”. I wondered whether this might be one of those grand hotels that had once been wonderful but was now resting on its laurels. I’m pleased to say that really wasn’t our experience. If “tired” refers to anything, it’s perhaps some of the smaller practical details, such as the lack of easily accessible plug sockets in the room - something that becomes much more noticeable now we all travel with several devices. I can also imagine the rooms getting quite hot during the height of summer. But it certainly didn’t feel like a hotel that had given up. Quite the opposite: the staff are lovely and there seems to be a genuine sense of pride in what they do. The spa facilities are lovely. The sauna in particular looks fresh and new, with a really nice Scandinavian feel, and the swimming pool first thing in the morning was beautifully quiet and serene. There's also kid free swimming slots too. Overall, Hanbury Manor is great place and we'd happily come again: beautiful surroundings, free car parking, warm staff, lovely leisure facilities (including an impressively extensive gym for a hotel), and plenty of character.
