the location in Hella is great as a base for highland visits & tours, the houses are a bit away from the ringroad - alongside the river and in a rather quiet neighbourhood - but the rooms themselves are a little susceptible to door noises from other rooms.
The bathroom in house 34 would benefit from some hooks and possibilities to place utensils and towels...

Good location.
They need to improve their check in process. I read lots of reviews about having to call a number once you arrive at the property to gain the code to get into your room and some people weren’t successful. After emailing the venue 24 hours prior to arrival they sent the details so check in ran well for us. There are no staff members on site which isn’t great. The group booking that arrived on the same night as us were extremely loud on arrival which was not great and if there were staff on site they could’ve dealt with this.

A great little place for the cheap price. Quiet building, didnt hear other guests at all. Very nice common sitting areas and kitchen with good facilities. Nice restaurant within 200m. Tiny room with 2 single beds, but still good value.
Check in was confusing and we needed help from another guest to gain access.

Beds were comfortable. The young man hired to do the cleaning and prep was accommodating and kind. Location was great.
We appreciate the person who is cleaning, and answering simple questions who lives on the property. He was extremely helpful.
But, communications with management, restrooms, size of rooms, and being moved on the third night to a renovated room the size of a closet is really sad and discouraging. I had attempted a number of times to contact management via Bookings.com, and again via their personal email three separate times beginning March for our trip in August, and never once received any answers to simple questions asked. Management claims to have a phone on site, but no one picks up the phone on the other end when called, or answers Text Messages to their cells. In the main house there are two bathrooms, one male and the other female, for all of the guests to share. The shower next to the toilet leaks into the toilet area so that the floor is wet going in and out. No shoes permitted, and a wet floor to walk on. Our third night we were moved from the room we were staying in to the next door house, and we found ourselves in what appeared to be a renovated closet. I am presently sitting out in the lounge area, where there are no electrical outlets having to type this out because there just isn’t room in our assigned room. We realize that Iceland is an expensive country to visit. But even so the rooms and amenities need to be of the quality of this wonderful country. Welcome Riverside Guesthouse will not be a recommendation to my friends and colleagues who wish to come to Iceland.
