Breakfast was great Plenty of it .I am gluten free and I was able to have gluten free toast.. a bonus! The son serving was lovely and the Irish lady loved her Irish background music. I was allowed to leave my stuff in my room for an extra hour while I visited Info Scotland which didn't open till 10am. Room was clean and bed good.
The whole place is quite run down which is a shock when approaching and could put you off... It is OLD . The bar is tiny and could do with an update and no slot machine lighting the place. The dining room was closed so had to find an alternative place to eat which I did and it was perfect... The Olive Retreat

We arrived super late with a 9 year old after a huge family wedding. On arrival the outside area was incredibly busy, but wow what a welcome! The patrons of the pub made sure we weren't standing around for a split second, they even carried our cases up to our room for us 😊 the young lady in the bar was very efficient and pleasant in getting us into our room for the night too. Thanks again to you all for all the assistance, we all must have looked completely haggard. Our room was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable with lovely fresh sheets. Even though the pub was absolutely stowed, we didnt hear much noise at all. what a beautiful family run place where all visitor and locals alike are made to feel like they belong 🥰 Breakfast was cooked fresh and any changes we asked for were no problem at all. The owner made such an effort to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy 😊 can't recommend this little gem enough 🫶
The only problem we experienced was the carpark area at the back was incredibly dark when we arrived and both our phones were dead after a busy day, however it was incredibly late when we got there. 🙃

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed, good shower. Good cooked breakfast included in price. Free parking behind hotel. The hotel is a bit rundown, but okay for the price and it was clean. Very limited choice of places in the town to eat in evening, but can highly recommend Sambuca restaurant next to the hotel (good idea to make a reservation in advance).
The bar next door set up large outdoor speakers in the evening (Saturday) beside the hotel and played blastingly loud and thumping music till 11.15pm. The windows in my room were rattling from the vibrations. Very unpleasant. After the music was turned off, people continued to talk and yell loudly outside the hotel until nearly midnight. No chance of sleep till midnight. For this reason, I can only give the hotel a rating of 6, and a poor rating for location next to this noisy bar.
