Beautiful property, very nature coded and relaxing. Had private beach access. The staff was very professional and kind as well.

Beachfront location, spacious Villa. Staff. Pool and restaurant. Good choice for breakfast.

The Villa was tired. We had maintenance issues - TV and safe weren’t working on arrival. Problems flushing toilet & the aircon unit leaked. Issues that we had were fixed very quickly by the maintenance team.

Frangipani Resort Langkawi – A Fading Beauty Clinging to Its Prime Beach Location (approx. 7/10) We stayed at Frangipani Langkawi Resort recently and left with mixed feelings. This place clearly had its glory days decades ago — I first visited Langkawi about 30 years ago, and back then the island and resorts like this felt magical. Today, it feels like it’s limping toward the finish line. Without its outstanding direct beachfront position on the quieter Pantai Tengah stretch, it probably wouldn’t survive the competition.  The location is still the biggest highlight — beautiful sunsets, easy access to the sand, and a more peaceful vibe than the busier Pantai Cenang nearby. The pools (especially the saltwater one) were a saving grace, and it’s nice that they still serve alcoholic drinks at the bar, which seems increasingly rare on the island amid the push toward more halal-compliant offerings for local and regional visitors.  Unfortunately, the food and breakfast were mediocre at best. Presentation lacks care, the bread/jam/butter were the cheapest quality, the coffee machine looked ready for retirement, and the juices were basically low-quality sweet drinks. Facilities show noticeable wear and tear — dated rooms, tired infrastructure, and signs of age everywhere. Staff are genuinely friendly, but training feels inconsistent and service isn’t always polished.  We had an overall decent time thanks to the beach, pool, and relaxed atmosphere, but it wasn’t memorable enough to make us want to return to Langkawi. The island itself seems to have lost some of its old flair and feels less tailored to Western tastes these days. There are better options elsewhere for a proper holiday far from home. If you’re set on this stretch of beach and prioritize location over modern luxury and top-tier dining, it could still work for a short stay. Otherwise, I’d look at newer or better-maintained alternatives on the island.

• Overall condition: The resort has clearly passed its prime and feels like it’s “limping to the finish line” with noticeable wear and tear everywhere. • Food & breakfast: Mediocre quality and presentation. Cheapest bread, jam, and butter; tired coffee machine; low-quality sweet juices. • Facilities: Dated, showing their age, with maintenance issues. • Service: Staff are friendly but poorly trained/inconsistent. • Value & repeat appeal: Only saved by the prime beach location, pool, and availability of alcoholic drinks. Not worth returning to the resort or even Langkawi itself.
