Villa & Palazzo Aminta is in a stunning location overlooking Lake Maggiore, with beautiful views and an old world charm, in traditional Italian style. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake was lovely, and the complimentary transfer into Stresa is very useful as the walk is a little hairy with no footpaths in places.
My biggest complaint was the centrally controlled air conditioning. Despite numerous requests and repeated assurances from reception and the owner that it had been fixed, it remained completely ineffective. I barely slept for three nights and it really impacted our stay. Nothing takes the luxury out of a five star hotel quite like restricting the air conditioning, particularly during the Italian August summer.
