We had the most amazing stay! Wasantha and his wife were great hosts and she made the best food we had in Sri Lanka! They were super helpful to get us a Tuktuk for the day and got us from the train station.
The rooms was nice with a great view over Nuwara Eliya, which we could enjoy with a breakfast one of the mornings when it was clear out.
We came in Christmas so we got a card and small gift from Waaanthas son, which was super sweet!

A real local experience, stay with a lovely family, amazing view from the balcony,
Wasantha and Chithra were the perfect hosts and really did everything to make the stay unforgettable.
Often we had the experience in Sri Lanka that requests were ignored or not completely fulfilled. But here they listened carefully and arranged everything as expected, such as massage, real BBQ, shopping local food with a lot of explanations, Hortons-National-Park.
It was an amazing experience.

The hosts made it good with a very affordable price and lovely care of us.

I felt like home when I stay here. The owners were super nice and kind they met all my needs. The room was comfy and cozy. The next morning I need to check out at 5am. They made me a nice and tasty breakfast. Weather in Nuwara Eliya was cold but I felt warm staying in their house. I will definitely come back and stay longer!

it was a very good stay. The location and balcony view was amazing. Wasantha our host was really very kind and helpful. He helped us in arranging tuktuk and guided for our visit places also. Mam and his entire family was very sweet. the city market is nearby. Must stay place.

This place is run by a very friendly and welcoming couple Chithra and Wasantha. The highlight of our stay was the amazing view outside the balcony and the delicious home cooked meals we ate there, we had breakfast and dinner on both nights and we weren't disappointed. We would definitely come back if we were in the area.

This was an absolute gem! It took us a while to find it, and you need to be ready for a steep walk from your taxi / tuk tuk to the property, but it's so worth it! The property is run by a lovely and extremely welcoming family, Chithra and Wasantha, and their son Rashi. During our stay, we felt really taken care of. There was a large terrace with a beautiful view, and the room was big enough and comfortable. What we enjoyed the most though was the food: truly homemade and honest meals, and the portions were so generous! If we're ever around, we'll definitely hope to stay here again! Thank you for everything!

Wasantha and Chithra offers a simple yet quite hospitable accomodation. Nuwera Elya can be cold, but we were not cold at Woods Hut.

The generous, warm hospitality and helpfulness of the hosts
Water leaked out of the bathroom, and the room is right next to the host’s quarters so there is less privacy. Accessing the property with a vehicle is challenging because of the steep, narrow hill it is on. we had to park our vehicle at the home of someone in the neighbourhood.

No power cuts, the place has hot water.
The staying was great. We enjoyed the kindness and hospitality of hosting family. The big room with a terrace was very original, lovely and neat even though the weather was rainy and cold so we didn't spend much time outside looking on a beautiful mountains and a city. The room has a fire inside and it makes the place very atmospheric.
It's completely different from staying in a hotel but still has its own charm. We loved it and Chithra and Wasantha made our time memorable.
Sometimes the smoke just stays in the room after the fire is lighted.

Wasantha uncle even lit fire for me as I was feeling so cold.The best part of the room is fireplace is inside the room. Aunty is such a good cook,I had dinner and breakfast there.
If you are looking for a calm place with amazing mountain view, and want to experience staying with local people,you should book this place.
Also he took me to a hiking.Both of them were so caring to me,I didn’t feel like a stranger for a second,that place felt like home.
I can assure no one would regret booking this amazing place.

+ the view was really great - especially in the morning when the fog is still hanging over the city
+ in general the accommodation just had charm - it was a bit retro furnished and there was even a fireplace
+ The host and his family were very nice and made us feel very welcome.
+ Through the host we also organized a TukTuk tour through the tea fields or even the pick-up from the train station
+ The family has two very cute kittens :)

We had an amazing homestay at the woods hut with Chithra and Wasantha. The room is spacious with an amazing, unobstructed view of the town city and nearby mountains. Wasantha and Chithra were excellent hosts whom went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Chithra made abundant amount of delicious gourmet Sri Lankan food for us during our stay for a small price. Wasantha gave us plenty of local tips on exploring nuwara eliya and nearby attractions. We even went on a whole day trek with Wasantha as a local guide to see multiple waterfalls and tea plantations around the area. This region does get cold and wet at night, but Wasantha always helped start the fireplace for us and ensured we stay warm and comfortable throughout the day. We extended our stay since we enjoyed their company and Nuwara Eliya so much. It was definitely good value for the price and I would highly recommend it to any future visitors!

We loved everything about Woods Hut! The family were amazing and made us feel so welcome. Wasantha and Chithta went above and beyond during our stay. Wasantha helped carry our very heavy bag from the car, walked us some of the way down towards the town and also allowed me to call him on our way back up so he could tell the Tuk Tuk driver where to go. Chithra very kindly made us a takeaway breakfast the next morning for our train journey to Ella!
Their son is a lovely, friendly and extremely clever boy who we really enjoyed chatting to!
The bed was so comfortable and the view was incredible!
Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!
We will definitely be back if we visit Sri Lanka again!

The property was clean, true to photos, big, has a nice balcony. The hosts were unbelievably hospitable and truly cares for your needs. they stay right beside, and therefore it was very convenient for us if we needed any help. The couple also have a 10 year old son, who is smart and friendly. We had a really great time at the property!

The view was amazing (dinner on a large terrasse) and the hosts really nice they gave us plenty of advice concerning the activities and helped us organise our trip to Horton plains.
The food is also absolutely delicious!
It was not a problem for us, but the host was often going through our bedroom to serve food on the terrace.

We spent one night at this place and it was awesome. The house is located very high giving beautiful views. There is the big balcony which is situated so that you can watch both sunsets and sunrises. The room is cozy with everything what is needed for comfortable stay. But actually this is incredibly sincere and kind hosts who made our stay special. They prepared for us delicious lunch and dinner. Wasatha also lit the fire, so we had heartwarming atmosphere. We definitely recommend this place to stay if you search apartments in Nuwara Eliya.

Everything was great, the room’s very large with and amazing view on the mountains and a balcony. The hosts were really nice, we ate a delicious rice and curry and the owner even start us a fire on the room. All of this for a really decent price, one of our best stay in Sri Lanka, can’t wait to come back !

+ the location with its view (unfortunately we were over there when it was cold, cloudy, rainy and foggy. That’s the weather since two weeks).
+ very, very friendly and lovely host. He shares nearly everything with you. Buy the ingredients and he will cook. He cooked HIS dinner when we arrived and shared it with us.
+ the bed is atm THE MOST comfortable one we had since two weeks.
+ own oven in the room. He made a nice fire for us and brought some wood.
+ for that price there is no better alternative!
- at first: this point WILL NOT COUNT to the rating. The room was very cold because the weather is really bad since weeks. The problem are the leaky windows and the air wetness. It’s a bad combination, but no problem, if the weather will became „normal“ for Sri Lanka again. I guess there is nearly no nicer place to be when the summer arrives ;-)
