Erg goede eenpersoonskamer, robuust gebouw in de verlatenheid tussen Cildir en het meer. Uitstekende basis voor wandelingen naar het meer en naar het Seytan fort ten noorden van Cildir. Uitstekend ontbijt. Restaurant aan het meer (een klein uur lopen) serveert uitstekende verse forel.
Ik vond de gans op het menu in het restaurant nogal tegenvallen (beetje muf qua smaak, veel lekkerder gans gegeten in Kars).

Amazing place. The 2 miserable Turkish tourists who left 1/10 scores for silly reasons lower the average rating, but it really is a 10/10. Literally everything you could hope for, superb food, beautiful building, great value.
The 2 miserable previous guests who lowered the average score with low reviews for petty reasons, which totally distorts the actual high score this hotel properly deserves. G maps is much more accurate, 140+ reviews, 4.7/ 5 if I recall well.

This is a beautiful hotel, although it’s built in a very remote location. We only stayed here because bad weather left us with no other choice—it was the only accommodation available in the town before crossing into Georgia. Considering the location, I found it quite overpriced.
That said, the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely cared about their guests. One unique feature is the small museum downstairs, which displays beautiful antique rugs and historical artifacts, making the hotel feel special.
The room had a large, very comfortable bed, and we had a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was made even more memorable by the sweetest nene (grandmother), who prepared it with so much warmth and care. She was absolutely lovely and made us feel at home.
The only downside was the shower. It uses its own electric water heater, so the water constantly alternated between hot and cold—about a minute of hot water followed by a minute of cold. It wasn’t a major issue, but it was noticeable.
Overall, despite the high price and inconsistent hot water, it’s a pleasant hotel with genuinely kind people, comfortable rooms, an interesting museum, and a warm, family-like atmosphere.
