I visited the cottage along with my friends and we had a great weekend here! The cottage is cosy and good for a small group or a family with kids. It is located right on the lake and that made it really easy to jump in for a swim or do any other water activity. We had a really good time!

Our recent stay at the cottage in McKellar was overall a really lovely experience. The cottage was a nice little cozy and cute space, perfect for relaxing and spending quality time in nature. We especially loved the outdoor setup — the bonfire area was definitely the best part of the stay and made the evenings feel extra special.
Since the cottage is surrounded by nature, there were a few ants and bugs around, but honestly that’s expected when you’re staying in the heart of nature and it didn’t take away from our experience.
The host was very kind, responsive, and answered our queries immediately, which we really appreciated.
A small thing to note for future guests is that there is no shower upstairs — there is only a single-person shower located in the basement. Also, the water flow throughout the cottage was a bit inconsistent at times; the water would come fast and then slow down, so you sometimes had to wait a little.
Other than that, we genuinely enjoyed our stay and had a great time.

Just spent the weekend here and had an amazing time! Check-in was super easy and the directions were spot on.The cottage is exactly as shown — cozy, simple, and perfect for anyone who loves being outdoors. The water pressure isn’t super strong, but totally fine for what you need. If you’re looking to unwind, relax, and enjoy the view and the water, this is the place.Having access to the canoe, kayak, and paddleboards really adds value to the stay. The available lifejackets and other gear are a great bonus — it means you can pack lighter!Communication with the host was effortless. Elena was quick to respond, friendly, and very attentive to anything we neededWould 100% stay here again. Thanks so much, Elena, for having us!

Lake was absolutely gorgeous and communication with owner was prompt and courteous and clear. That was a great experience. The cabin is well-loved and we don't mind bare-bones accommodations, but a few rhings that dis not match the description. There was a carpet in the bathroom! The carpet all over had stains and looks like it has been a part of the cottage for over 50 years. The vacuum cleaner is no longer functioning and it took over an hour to vacuum as closely as we could with little success- should cleaning be required in a cabin, the materials should also be available. We have allergies to pets and were sneezing and reactive while in the cabin, but that is our own oversight for not seeing or realizing that it is a pet-friendly cabin, or perhaps it was due to the filthy carpet. Jurys out.Trampoline was ripped and broken all around as well as two chairs which were broken on arrival- also, the shower is more like a water hose that you hold over your head in a poorly lit crawl space/basement storage.I hate to leave that comment because the owner was very friendly and responded properly but the description and photos are perhaps not updated with all the wear and tear which can come from rental spaces. I noticed this from another renter's comments from June 2025.Otherwise the property itself is nice.neighbours next door have lovely barking dogs and loved singing karaoke outside on the weekend.

The location is excellent. The cottage was rustic and charming but be prepared it is outdated. If you know that going in you will have a pleasant stay! I wouldn’t say that the beach access was super kid friendly but certainly enjoyable. The cottage itself could use some updates and could maybe be cleaned a bit better before a new guest arrives. Over all we had a great time there and the short 25 minute drive into Parry Sound for a sandy beach and tourist attractions was a nice bonus. The lake itself is beautiful and the water crafts available were a lot of fun!
This charming cottage is situated in the perfect location about 2 hours from Toronto near Parry Sound in a lovely small town McKellar. Fall in love with this hidden gem on a beautiful lot overlooking Grey Owl Lake. The cottage has a lot of heart and is welcoming and warm with a typical cottage feel, wooden walls, wooden furniture fresh out of a fairy tale. The large windows and slightly elevated location as well peninsula like location give you a 120 degree view from the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Perfect for families with kids, has a flat grassy area along the wide water front, and a small shallow sandy beach area. The cottage is surrounded by very few neighbours and feels private.
Enjoy your days in the outdoors, fishing, swimming and/or meditating on the dock.
For any shopping needs, McKellar, which is a 5 minute drive has a convenience store, LCBO, an ice cream place, fresh farm eggs, and more. Parry Sound, which is 20 minutes away has a large grocery store, Canadian Tire, Starbucks, and many more.
