Fantastic cottage located right next to the sluice between a river and a loch in a remote location thats still easy to get to (literally just off of the A9) and with plenty of services located at nearby Golspie, Dornoch, Brora and Tain. Classically decorated and a lot bigger than we expected, the cottage is super comfortable even in the middle of winter with log burner in the lounge, oil fired AGA in the kitchen and central heating for when that doesn't quite cut it. When you've been for a walk and want to warm up you have an amazing choice between the superb hot tub with beautiful views (both day and night), giant bath or the shower that can only be described as Niagara Falls from the water pressure. Also the fridge is far bigger than you would ever need. Would hands down stop here again in a heartbeat.
Very few negative things to say about this place as it was fantastic. Be aware the A9 at the side and railway behind the cottage can be heard inside as the property is only single glazed. There always seems to be some traffic travelling on the A9, even in the early hours, but this didn't bother us in the slightest. The train vibrations can be felt inside the cottage, particularly in the back rooms but in our 4 nights we only heard 5 or 6 trains so its not a major issue at all. Also be aware that there is a public carpark for the Loch is located next to the entrance road to the cottage and it does see frequent traffic through the days, with some cars randomly left over night. Again none of this bothered us but is for awareness as sitting in the hot tub the views are spectacular but it means people can see your heads bobbing in the hot tub. Finally as this place allows pets, there were many dog hairs in the thick rugs and carpets, etc. which we appreciate is difficult to remove but is worth noting.
