A must experience if staying visiting Matera!

Matera was beautiful & we enjoyed the “cave experience” but not the dampness.

It was fun to stay in a cave & it felt authentic but modern at the same time. It was decorated nicely with many accent lights. The location was great. A bit hard to find at first as it is tucked away behind a store. The only part that was tough to deal with was the humidity, it was damp the whole time & the sheets even felt damp. To be expected in a cave I guess!

Unique experience

What a gorgeous place! If you ever want to sleep in a cave, this is where to do it :-) We found parking in the nearby parkade. 17 Euros for late afternoon to mid morning. From there cross the street towards the cathedral, down the steps towards the sassi. Et voila - you are in another world. Have an e sim for Italy to be able to communicate or use google maps. We didn't but still managed to find the place.

Bear in mind that the cave is pretty humid. Not sure if it was because of the rainy weather or the hot tub.

Back in time

Everything was perfect, location, atmosphere, cleanliness and breakfast. Unlike other properties I've stayed in previously, the hot mini pool in the cave only for us was wonderful! Next time we will bring our children who will appreciate it. An experience you absolutely must have if you visit the Sassi of Matera

I recommend a two night stay to take advantage of the mini pool and enjoy the city's many wonders
