Great house. Unique location in the country. Great access to St Louis and horse track in Collinsville, Illinois.

We were in town for a family wedding and a reunion. The house was spacious for a group of 8 with two little ones and was well equipped for preparing meals and for fun. The farm animals provided entertainment, as did the games and children’s books during our down time. If you are a light sleeper the rooster may wake you, but it was a minor annoyance compared to all the positives.
The house was clean and comfortable in a safe and easy to access area.

First, the day of checkin it took over 5 hours for the host to respond to me on how to get into the property. So good thing we were traveling. Then we were given the wrong code. Then soon get the correct code to enter the gate/house. Same went for wifi password. That was incorrect so we had to contact them again.
2nd upon checkin the house was somewhat clean. Only major complaint the floors were extremely dirty. Everyone wearing socks were beyond normal dirty by end of the day. There were toothbrush holder in bathrooms and were not cleaned out on the inside. There were personal items left under sinks. The ceiling fans were dusty. Then the fridge. It was full of misc items. Yes, some might see this nice to have condiments, creamers, etc. But we are in a pandemic. How do we know they were stored correctly. Just not taking our chances on sharing. So that took a huge chunk of fridge.
Now the basement. Our first night we were unable to use most of the basememt. The bar tv was not working nor was the main tv. So once again i had to contact the host about the non working tv. They did come correct it the next day. But if you have 2 tvs you should make sure they both work before the next renters.
We also had a door handle fall off within 2 hrs of entering the property. It was fixed the next day.
So after numerous texts back and forth just after a couple hrs of check in, it continued. As we could not locate dishwasher soap. No where to be found. So they ran some to us.
Just be ready at checkin for lots of surprises and things not working.
On the 2nd day we found the washer dial not working. So you had to pull the dryer dial off to turn the washer. If you are cleaning items as stated, should your cleaning people notice the broken dial?
My biggest problem was that there is a work building behind property. If you have children watch out they have small gator vechicles driving around to another building site. Some of the drivers seem to be driving faster then normal. Also, there is a fenced yard. But if you have a small dog it can get out under numerous spots on the fence. So beware.
Overall it is a nice property. But a lot of flaws.
