The accommodation was found exactly as described. The host Eduardo and his wife met us at the day of arrival. The place is actually part of their home. There are super friendly, helpful and caring. Whatever request was from our side they responded immediately. Ediardo was a top notch guide providing us with tons of Goggle map links of places to visits and things to do. It helped is big time not to waste time lurking around the island. Calhetas is also very good situated geographically on the island allowing for equally short travels to all other (east, west and south) areas of Sao Miguel. Eduardo and hid familly really made us feel like we are at home. We highly recommend Refugio do Norte, especially for couples.
The wifi was a bit unstable. At the back of the main room the cell phones had no reception. All minor things and certainly for the mobiles not much the hosts could do but it was a bit annoying that to make a phone call one had to best go out of the room. They've installed new a/c which we never used as the weather was rather fresh throughout our stay but the lack of option to get some room ventilation when the door is closed during the night was the main issue we faced. I read such previous feedback from other visitors but it didn't stop us from booking. Nevertheless, it was the main discomfort we've had.

Tenía todo lo necesario en un ambiente coqueto y funcional! Con unos anfitriones super agradables y te ayudarán en todo, genial ruta de sitio que visitar que nos dieron. Muy recomendable!!
La verdad que no era algo negativo pero es verdad que para extranjeros es bueno tener una buena conexión a Internet o WiFi y la verdad que era muy inestable.

Muy limpio, tienes un poquito de jardin exterior.. Pequeñito perp suficiente para desayunar y alguna cena rápida.
Esta en la parte baja de la casa de los dueños, aunque son muy amables y discretos.
