Excellent stay near the pier right in the Jack London pedestrian area. We could walk to the Amtrak station.

Clean, very comfortable. Just wish they had an EV charger. Would have put it over the top but just a minor inconvenience

The hospitality was top notch. The crew was friendly and welcoming.
The room however was next to the old dilapidated elevator which was extremely loud and the door springs were obviously malfunctioning.
Also the room was next to a air handler that went off every hour, the refrigerator in room was humming and loud.
We only learned that ear plugs were in a drawer with an explanation for the inconvenience.
This room should never be available, it was terrible

From the moment we drove up, we were greeted with excellent customer service! The lobby was warm and welcoming. The front desk staff is professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Our room was clean and cozy. Our one drawback was the view, which was the balcony of the neighboring room. On our next visit, which there will be, we will opt for a Bay view. This visit was prompted by our attendance at the New Year's Eve late show at Yoshi's, which is another of our Oakland favorites. One can literally see the front of the hotel from the dining area at Yoshi's. The venue is within very easy walking distance. Definintely a draw for repeat visits!

The location was great for other activities that were planned - everything was within walking distance from hotel. Staff was very friendly throughout our stay. The room offered a great view from our balcony of SF and the surrounding area was quiet.

The staff was amazing! So kind and friendly. Our housekeeping staff were so great. The neighborhood was dog and children friendly. The ferry was right there with easy access to San Francisco. The best way to travel in the city. I highly reccomend this hotel to anyone safe and family friendly.

I called ahead to get a room on the same floor as a family member but because she booked thru the hotel directly and I booked thru hotels.com my room was given to someone who booked thru the hotel directly and I was given a lower floor rm the heater didn't work then they moved me to another room with no waterfront view that I paid for a waterfront view the staff apologized and were nice but I was disappointed i got no waterfront view after paying for one I will never use a third party site to book a hotel again i will always book directly at the hotel they treat you better.

The entire building needs to be updated. The walls in our room are so thin we can hear everything going on around us. The couple in the room next door fought until 3 AM. We had to call security to get some peace and quiet.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and had a great view. We love working out in the mornings and was happy to see a gym for us to use. Overall an enjoyable time at this hotel.

We chose a room with a waterfront view. The sunrises were amazing, and the view of boats in the marina very picturesque. As a 3-star hotel, the Waterfront met our expectations. The property was well maintained, rooms very clean, and, above all, the staff at the front desk (as well as the housekeeping staff) were cordial and very helpful. A tip, Scott's Seafood Grill, a 3 minute walk from the hotel, is excellent, with delicious seafood and a direct view right out over the bay.

Great location for us. We were in town for the Anita Baker concert at Oakland Arena and found this location to be perfect for our needs - walking distance from good restaurants and coffee shops & 10-15 minute Uber to the arena. The room and property is almost exactly as pictured but the pics definitely seem enhanced/brighter than the room actually is. The walls are a bit thin and the carpet could use a facelift. Overall, it was a fine visit. We were there one night and barely in the room.

This hotel is extremely old, and the rooms are dated. Not a place I will ever stay in the future!

The staff was not helpful during our arrival. \
We drove up from LA for 8 hours and arrived really tired and in the dark. There was no help guiding us to where to go or park, and then when I got out of my car to check in and find out information. I was rushed by one of the rudest parking attendants.
I unloaded my dogs, as this is a pet friendly hotel. Then went back down to unpack my luggage, no one offered to help. And in fact danced around me to get my license plate number for the parking.

I stayed at Waterfront Hotel, right in the Jack London Square area of Oakland, CA. It is a very nice location, close to the Ferry to San Francisco, and various shops and restaurants and movie theater. I stayed overnight for a concert at Yoshi's Jazz Club and Sushi Restaurant. Overall, a very pleasant stay, and I would go back to this hotel again.

Parking was convenient. Valet was $40. There’s a BevMo not too far so we were able to get a drink before we went to Paramount theater which was the reason we were there. Hotel is older hotel know that coming in. We paid $200 for the hotel and I’m not sure if that’s because of the area but for $200 it was a bit overpriced. Hotel is dated so should not command such a price when the rooms are old paint is chipping and room is dusty, like there was dust all around the room. Major reason though, walls are super thin like motel 6 you are going to hear what the neighbors ate for dinner. People getting busy and every door slamming every single time!!! The employees were nice busy because it seems to maybe be a bit understaffed the front desk lady could have used some help. she was up there by herself she could handle it, but left people waiting for some time to check in. Valet was a nice guys as well. Most likely would not stay here again. I thought it would be charming, and has some potential but thin was make it difficult to want to return.

This hotel was clean and close to everything. It was nice to stay on the water. Staff were excellent. I stayed in the original building and rooms are outdated. My lamp fell off the headboard.

Our room faced the water with a balcony. We sat there and had a glass of wine. That we purchased from the near by wine bar. Then walked over to a amazing seafood restaurant. We only stayed one night but could easily staid another night.

The hotel, overall, was very nice. We had to ask 3 times to have our ac serviced. They came each time, but with no results. Otherwise, it was a great place and we would give it another try.

When I arrived, they had a new person in training. I was given my key room, went to the room and the key didn't work. Went back, given another key but this time when I arrived to the room, it was someone else's room. Things were in the bathroom and bedroom. Went back to the office for the 3rd time and got another room which at this point I was tired of going back to the office again. Then I had a co-worker arrive and used my credit card to pay for his room and some how they put our names on different rooms and created some confusion on cleaning the room and other things.

Didn't care for the $40.00/day valet parking with no provision for self park.

Wonderful experience. We walked to the hotel from the Amtrak station. We never felt unsafe. Several fantastic restaurants all within a few hundred yards.

Don't listen to anyone who says Oakland isn't safe.
It is in Jack London Square.
This place would have blown wide open if the A's MLB team had built their so desired new ballpark right at
Jack London Square. Alas. The dining is good, has a classic dive bar open till 2 a.m. every night and safe. Jack London's partially underground bar as well. Ferry to the city right there. See who's playing at Yoshi's jazz club right across the street, we saw The Stylistics, watch out for the Amtrak trains that come right down the middle of the street, and not slow. And catch an A's game before they split for Las Vegas in a couple years. Only 2 to 6 thousand per game but it's a blast and what a storied franchise. Alas .... Carlos has great breakfast for you in the hotel restaurant.

Right there to walk into Old Sac and all its bars and restaurants and shops. This riverboat hotel so incredibly unique. The bar is fabulous. Can't wait to see a play in the tiny below decks little theater. So unique. If you stay and are returning by car to the Bay Area, take the 2 lane highway off I-5 to the south a few miles that follows the Sacramento River for 2 hours because you'll be alongside the exact river the Delta King traversed 13 hours each way though the early part of last century every day between the 2 big California cities. That will bake the boat's history into you.

The front desk receptionists were exceptionally nice and helpful. I liked the communal feeling of the fireplace living room. My bed was very comfortable. I loved the Jonathan Adler products for the shower.
4.0
The surrounding area (a block above), is dirty, has graffiti, and makes you feel unsafe. The hotel itself is good. I had a room overlooking the water, but the drawback was that their were people in the pool that were loud which limited my ability to sit on the porch. The carpet in my room was terribly stained (might want to consider cleaning or replacing), the balcony had bird poop on it, and the hallway needed some cleaning. Staff are amazing, the bed was great, the room set up is good.

Great hotel but car broken into a few blocks from hotel. Do not leave anything in vehicle. Hotel was cozy and clean.
