The front desk person Amy was a great help. This was the first time we came to Lake Tahoe during the snow season. She helped my wife when she arrived in the hotel. Thank you Amy for your assistance

Our room smelled like dog. As soon as we walked through the door the smell hit us. The bedding smelled like dog, the curtains. The room was clean, check-in was easy, and the decor was nice. Overall fine, but the smell was unpleasant.

Barely a hotel. The place was falling apart and had temporary wood beams holding up the upstairs. There was a derelict travel trailer parked in the parking lot and several vehicles that did not move the entire time were were there. The pool deck was full of trash and old construction materials. Dogs were barking and people were arguing at all hours of the night. Overall a terrible experience and I can't believe this place is listed on hotels.com

All worked really well!

This proper need a lot of updates. Rooms were outdated . No room service. No staff at night. Bathrooms have stains everywhere. Noisy. We booked four days and left one day earlier.

Amazing, walking distance to the casinos. We loved it and will be back soon!

It was a decent place. It was being worked on so lots of debris around. I loved the easy check in after hours. Price was a little high for the worth but I would definitely stay again to save money.

Really nice stay. Owner is super friendly

Staff were super friendly. Check in was super easy. Room was decent for the price point. South Lake Tahoe is easily walkable. Public beach is an 8-10 min walk.

I did not stay!! I drove up the road and found another hotel. This place was falling apart. Gross, dirty and was not at all what the ad represented. It had 2 x 4s all around bracing up the structure. It looks as if it should be condemned.

I like an old-style hotel, and this one is good. It's not fancy (though I was pleasantly surprised by the hot tub in the room!), but it is clean and comfortable. It's easy walking distance to the casinos if that's your thing. My only complaint is that I found the front desk receptionist to be a bit on the condescending side, but nothing that would keep me from going back.

That had a cool system for late check-ins and very easy checkout. Perfect spot along the way for a road-trip.

The property staff do not care at all. Very poor customer service. Would not V recommend. Talked to the same person twice on two different days before my stay. Poor tone. Zero hospitality. I was so off put by our interactions that I ended up canceling our reservation the day of. Glad I did. Started at another place in town. Drove past the property during my vacation. The place is run down. Would not recommend.

The property was dirty and not what was shown in the pictures. The staff was incredibly nice but just overpriced you can get alot more if you just spend the extra $20-40 at a different place

The room was dirty when we arrived, hair was on the AC and on the toilet. The carpet was not vacuumed it was dirty and the bathroom floor needed to be sweeped up but it was not. There were blood stains on the mattress cover. We notified the office of the condition of the room and the next day supposedly house keeping cleaned the room. Looks like the only thing they did was remove the piece of hair on the AC but everything else remained the same. According to the lady in the office house keeping cleans every day but we didn’t notice anything being cleaned. They never emptied our trash or fixed the bed if that is still a thing. The only pros were that it is in a good location and it was quiet at night so we were able to sleep. We paid too much for what we got.

Run down, never saw anyone in office, very creaky floor, pool out of order,

We booked this Hotel in March. When we arrived at noon, hoping for an early check in, they said they didn't have a reservation for us. Apparently they cancelled all reservation prior to May when half their hotel became out of commission. Hotels.com didn't notify us leaving us to scramble to find lodging that night. We ended up having to pay $400 for a super crappy low budget around the corner.

Staff left early and I could not get a whole of them. The T.V. in the room didn't work. The A/C was very loud. Just not a great place to stay.

The hotel is super close to everything in South Lake Tahoe. It's on the main road. The decor is super cute, cabin themed. We got the room with the hot tub, very big and clean. They did 'close' at 3pm which was weird since check in was at 3pm, but we were able to get the keys they left for us. The room overall was clean, except for some shampoo bottles leftover in the shower, but everything else was immaculate. Good place for the price!

older property with transient looking cliental. lots of pot smoking and shady looking clients. Room had funny smell and the condition was 2 out of 5 for looks, smell, clean, was a dump to be honest, camping would be cleaner.

While the room itself was not bad, the entire property needs much repair and cleaning, or a complete rebuild.

The room ultimately was very clean and the woman who worked in the “lobby” came out to tell us to check our texts for instructions on how to get in the room was very nice. We didn’t have noise problems like some of the other reviews but the property outside was so run down and had a wood frame holding up the other side of the building like it was going to fall. It appeared at least 3 of the rooms had permanent residents and there was a beat up trailer in the parking lot next to the empty pool. It worked for the one night we needed it but it’s definitely not a place we’d stay for a vacation.

Our room smelled bad, the comforter was dirty and all surfaces had not been wiped down in a while.

Needs a paint job, seems like things are being updated so at least its getting there

Old, dated, not super clean. No staff present only a lock box

Very pleased with the room's makeover. Though The Trailhead is pet-friendly, there was no smell. The TV was HD. While there is a huge jacuzzi, it could not be filled up enough to cover the jets before the hot water ran out. I suggest removing the jacuzzi and instead have a kitchenette in that space, there is plenty of room and would seal the deal for further stays. The staff were very helpful.

A great property with walkable access to the Stateline amenities. The property served its purpose to accommodate a weekend ski trip to Heavenly.

Room can definitely do with some updating (i.e usb
charging ports)
Cleanliness can be improved (i.e dust on furnitures and fake plants)

We stayed with 2 teen girls. The place was as described, check-in was easy and smooth after 5 pm via the lockbox. Nothing fancy, and a bit old - don't expect 5 star at the rate, great value for the price. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom. Had a microwave and fridge, room and bathroom was clean. Everything worked. The room had good heat, there was warm water. Great location for skiing (winter) lake (summer) and close to dining and stores. Would certainly stay again!.

Really terrible experience here. Customer service is rude, they never pick up their phone. Extremely disorganised, took my card at the check in, then a few days later sent me a text that they will sue me and give my info to collection if I don’t provide payment method. Then immediately charged me on the card they already took. One night on the New Year’s eve and the next day, we had no water and no light. They didn’t even provide customers with any water. We couldn’t use the bathroom even. No one is ever at the front desk to ask for extra towels or anything else. Just extremely terrible hotel. Never ever again I’m coming back here. I wish I read the reviews better before I booked.

This was a trip on New Years Eve weekend. I wanted my wife and I to have a nice time in Lake Tahoe, so I booked a room at this Hotel for two nights. As we drove up, parked and walked to the hotel, it was nothing friendly or inviting at all. I had to speak to someone I couldn't even see... through, a two way mirror like whole in the glass. It felt like some sort of shady , seedy like motel you see in the movies, that you'd take a prostitute to, or to do a drug deal. I'm not kidding. Their were red flags everywhere. As the lady verified our reservations, we had to get our key to our room, through a combination lock on our door, no card key access keys like a normal hotel. Again, very shady like way to get your key. Our trouble began, on our second day there around 5pm Sat. We heard a loud "BOOM" as our power went completely out!! No T.V! No water! No heat! There were no telephones in the rooms to call room service, or at least talk to someone. No one at the front desk either to help us, or at least to explain. The night was a freezing cold dark room! This was our New Years Eve experience at the Trailhead Hotel. Completely and totally awful. The next morning on Sunday, check out time, still no power, No one to speak to at the so called, front desk,, there was no one in sight, no customer service whatsoever, with a closed lobby,( which was a tiny strange like room) . We spent two hours shoveling snow to get our car out, so we can leave this God forsaken place. BEWARE

No power or water. Not cleaned. No front desk person.

No heat for over 24 hours during a winter storm, not due to power outage as we still had lights.

Arrived late and late checkin was a breeze.
It was close enough to the hub of South Lake tahoe and nearby places were very walkable.

Great place, close to casinos

Comfy bed and room...check in staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel and grounds were gross...convenient location area

The lady that works there, either the manager or owner has no concept of customer service, or just doesn't care. You're not allowed to go into the office, they have a walk up window which is tinted I believe and you can't even see who you are speaking to. The owner/manager had a dog that got away from her, when her dog seen mine, her dog came towards mine and seemed very unfriendly. After blocking the dog from mine and yelling to stay away the lady didn't even say I'm sorry. How do people run a lodge like this and stay in business?
