Our family spring break at big bear was fun, however fun is not a word I will use for the hotel we stayed in. The place is run down, workers there are not in this planet and place was dirty and uncomfortable. The one nice feature about the hotel is the location. It is located conveniently by the village where restaurants and shops are located

Two night stay just to get away an enjoy big bear. The hotel is nice a next to down town. Everything was fine until I woke up a began to shower a love taking a nice hot shower, but after 5 minutes no hot water. I called front desks asked whats wrong with the hot water an was told the the had a water leak an had to turn the hot water off so it could be fixed ( an I was standing naked in front of the shower for over 5 minutes waiting for hot water we’re the staff could of let us know about the problem but did nothing. So my wife and I did not have a shower and I did not get to shave. So my wife and I left and did some things well hopefully they could fix the problem so later that day I called the hotel and ask them what’s going on and they said they’re still working on it I said, can you please call me back and give me an idea when it’s gonna be fixed so I can, take a shower. so a lady I talked to check my number and said yeah we will call you back, but they never did. I understand things happen, but my main thing is communication and I just think they were hoping that nobody would complain enough for them. They have to make an issue of it. if you’re paying money to somebody and you’re not getting what you’re paying for that’s one thing but when you’re not communicating with you that’s another thing and very unacceptable to me. they did take $75 off for one of the nights of the problem but that’s only because I complain, and explain to them exactly what I wrote here here.

Service at the front desk was fine when we first checked in, however the guy who was there when I went down to simply ask for some tape was extremely rude. It was 100% unnecessary for him to be as rude and condescending as he was, it was my first time in Big Bear and this did not leave a good impression.

We were given the wrong room to start out with. Front desk staff was not friendly. Phone didn’t work in room. When we were switched to a different room no one help us move our luggage to our new room. Very frustrating that we paid over $1000 for our room and it was a bad experience all around! Definitely will not be going back or referring friends.

Tv did not work in either room.
Both toilets weren’t working properly and maintenance had to be called in during the evening.
Fir the price they should be doing a much better job checking amenities ans room maintenance

The service here was sub-par. From the moment of check in to the moment of check out, it was less than. There was rarely anyone at the front desk. I had to call on 2 occasions and the line just rang and rang. At night, they seemed to have turned the air off in our room, so it just got hotter and hotter. After multiple attempts to contact anyone on the phone, finally someone answered, but nothing done. Then magically, in the morning, the air popped back on. Our room was dusty, layers were on the lamps. The sheets were clean and the location was great, walking distance to most things.

Excellent location for visiting the shops and restaurants. Easy parking. Walk to everything. 10 min to Summit.

The shower soap dispenser was completely out and the shower towels were paper thin. beed two per person to dry and only two in the room. tried to call front desk and they wouldn’t answer. asked about it during check out. they gave no interest. During check in the front desk informed me that I don’t receive any resort stay credits due to booking through an outside source. Hmmm

Great location, quick check-in, great conditions of the hotel

The hotel looks modern and nicely decorated. The price is a little higher compared to other hotels around the area. No free breakfast, though. The sound proofing is poor if you happen to have kids jumping at night above your floor.

Area was nice, staff was nice. But the TV wasn't working when we got there took forever for the maintenance man to get to our room, very noisy and also the next day or the room was not cleaned the next day. So, I really feel it could have been much better. It made me sad.

Found a sock under the bed, worried they didn’t change the sheets. Walls are paper thin, could hear people from across hall rooms. Power surges throughout the night whenever the heater would turn on / off. Some outlets did not work. Bed was SO uncomfortable, I kept waking up every hour due to the neck and back pain. Took me about an hour - 2 hrs after waking to feel somewhat better. My family also said the same about the noise and bed. The shower was nice and tv was good. The chairs outside on the balcony are near the floor. It was kind of funny because even my kids had to kneel down and really squat to sit. Location is great, walking distance to the shops. We went to the slopes on the second day and due to the horrible neck and back pain, it really put a damper on our day and we left early. A great night of sleep is necessary when on vacation. Overall 2/5.

Overpriced and very poor value. The safe was locked and so couldn’t use it without putting the staff on notice we would be using it so they could open it. The bathroom door would not close.
Expensive and low quality food in their restaurant.

Our stay was good and we really enjoyed being close to the village and other places.
I just think the hotel needs some updates and front desk staff should be more friendly with customers .
The rest was ok

The bed was very stiff and yet lumpy at the same time, hard to explain. Felt like it was a very old mattress that made lots of noise at the slightest movement. We also asked for no house keeping during our stay, but found the room was redone while we were gone.

Hotel is a bit dated. Fair place to stay for the $, I can see some charm during the winter mos, but not so much a place to enjoy during the summer or fall. Staff was helpful and attentive. B- / C+ accommodations overall.

Had a great time at October festival and this hotel was near by the village and close to every thing!I would stay there away

I usually like this hotel, unfortunately this most recent time we were disrupted in the morning by a member of hotel staff who I believe was one of the managers. He banged on our door multiple times, and said that we were in a room that was unreserved? He tried coming in after we said hold on a moment and almost saw me exposed. I told him our last name we were registered under and told him which member of staff checked us in, showed him that we had the room keys for the room we were in, then he said it was the employee at the front desk who didn’t properly check us in? He then walked off without an apology for the mixup. We were startled and bothered being it was fairly early in the morning and they assumed us to be in the wrong instead of asking. Hopefully staff to staff communication and improves in the future and they don’t assume wrong intentions of their guests.

The property was good, but seems old. We noticed the hotel has the main furnace (heater) problems. We slept in cold rooms that gave us terrible sleeping experinces.

Great location - You can walk to any spot in the village and you are not far from the lake either.

Air conditioning didn't work and there were holes in the towels and comforter on the bed. They put us on the 4th floor even though there was room available on the lower floors with bigger rooms

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed here and overall it’s amazing. The location is ideal and so close to The Village. It’s clean, and the staff has been friendly both stays. The only thing I can say that wasn’t ideal, is the AC is so loud every time it turns on so our sleep was disrupted through the night a little. But, at least there is an AC here because some hotels in this area do not have air conditioning. Overall, we love it here and will keep coming back any time we stay in Big Bear! Definitely recommend.

Restaurant is advertised, but it is not open for lunch or dinner and bar is closed (would have been nice to know beforehand)
Sauna is broken (literally the only reason we chose the place) and someone was using it to smoke cigarettes in and squating/living in the gym.
Great area but property needs a lot of love. Hilton should be doing better than this, the advertisements should state what’s broken or closed. It’s misleading and cost us what should have been a nice relaxing long weekend that turned into just a waste of money.
The staff was friendly but are obviously not being given the man power, training, or resources to keep the place fully operational.

Check in was late (where still cleaning the rooms), asked for extra towels and didn’t receive, needed some first aid products due to an accident and they didn’t have. Very noisy during the night, you can hear everything from all the walls and ceiling.

nice stay but i didn’t like the restrooms in the lobby. no toilet paper and about half of the stalls couldn’t close

Probably the worst holiday inn property I have ever lived in. We had no curtains in our tiny 1 bedroom which we paid over $250 for the night. There were huge series of yellow light bulb outside of the property right next to the window which made it absolutely insane to sleep in the night given there were no curtain and the window shutters don’t close properly. Bad breakfast and extremely slow service. Overall very dated property and horrible infrastructure

This is my go to hotel when I visit big bear. The pool and hot tub are always clean and nice as well as the rooms.

The property was in a good location, walking distance to restaurants, entertainment, etc.
The service was awful. No internet, the HVAC started putting out heat. We attempted to check out early and the front desk staff yelled profanities at us. Unbelievably poor customer service, completely shocked. They never checked me out of the hotel and no one from management has addressed the issue still.
Terrible experience, avoid this place, poorly managed and terribly staffed.

Nice and good hotel

We booked a room on the 4th floor, M (what does this mean anyway?), which ended up being a waste. Windows 5 feet above the floor offered only light and a peek at the chimneys and roof. Puzzling... Pictures on the website were misleading! Bathroom lighting was terrible. Maybe it's snug in the middle of winter but we won't be back to find out.

Holiday Inn usually offers breakfast, not here. The restaurant attached was completely closed. We had to seek other places. And the rate went up $65 for our last night because the hotel was busier. That’s what the clerk said when checking out. We felt penalized. Also no maid service until we asked why and they finally came our last full day there. We are senior citizens and will not be going there again.

Have stayed here for years for the annual car show. But the hotel was very understaffed. Bar and restaurant were only open Friday/Saturday. And spotty hours. Got there Thursday morning. No cleaning, had to ask for coffee, toilet paper, and Towles. Don't feel for the price that they were prepared for one of the main events the city has and in front of there hotel! Paid more and got way less. Probably wont return. Priced other places locally that were more reasonable.

I guess we expected more, especially for the money we were paying. The A/C didn't work properly. Some of the rooms work really well and were an ice box. Our room on the other hand couldn't get cold. The toilet in our room didn't work. Every time we flushed it we would have to take the cover off the tank and fix it. There were leaks in the hallway with the panels off the ceiling. There was only one person working in the restaurant for breakfast on Saturday morning. We were only able to get coffee and had to go somewhere else for food. The restaurant also did not take credit cards. It was cash only. Not the best experience.

Our family has been coming up to Big Bear & staying at the Holiday Inn (prior Northwoods Resort) for 16 years to the annual Fun Run car show. Our car club of 70 members would have rooms blocked off with special rates & our club would host a party in one of the banquet rooms. Last year Holiday Inn said they would no longer honor special rates nor would they block off any rooms. The majority of the 70 car club people stayed at other hotels as the hotel rates tripled. I tried to book our room this year through Holiday Inn. They would not match a 2nd party rate (Hotel.com which was $40 cheaper a night for a King room on 2nd floor facing parking lot. I booked thru Hotels.com. When we arrived at the Holiday Inn Big Bear the front desk tried to put us on the 4th floor in a small room with 2 double beds & a tiny window. The clerk told me when you “don’t” book direct no matter what you reserved originally you get their standard room on the 4th floor. I asked for the manager & after 20 minutes she miraculously found a room on the 2nd floor w/a balcony. With the rates at $250 per night with resort fees this will be the last time at this Holiday Inn. The room was clean with normal ware & mattress comfortable. There was no maid service unless you called front desk. The parking lot was a nightmare as non guests were parking there. There were people partying around the pool until 1am. The restaurant Stillwells was closed. We were told but can’t confirm they had no staff.
