The room was very clean, the AC worked, good water pressure in the shower, the bath towels were big and thick and clean, the bed was comfy and the linens were fresh. The hotel has its own restaurant, and there were plenty of cafes, pubs and other restaurants within walking distance.
Small complaint: The people next door tended to slam their door real hard. Jarring when they did it. And the coffee at the little pastry shop is a tad over-priced.
Overall: I would stay here again. And I would recommend it to my friends.

Another excellent stay at the 1898. The reception and door staff are outstanding, warm, polite and genuinely helpful. We had our usual room as requested, immaculate, with a very comfortable bed and a great shower. The location puts you right in the heart of the action. Breakfast is very good, with a wide selection and friendly staff, and when jet lag made me miss it on the first morning they still sat me down and fed me 30 minutes after closing. Do not miss the poolside restaurant on the 6th floor. The only minor point was a slight odour in the lift shafts after the heavy rain, which did nothing to spoil the stay. Highly recommended.
