Staying at Steel Cottage was as much an experience as accomodation. The host is very helpful and looks after you like family.

The location is wonderful. We walked to dinner and to the main house for breakfast.

The breakfast was fairly good. Adequate room to relax since no one else was there.
If the cottage had other visitors at the time, the shared bathroom would have been a problem.

The cottage has a lot of charm and character, and the historic atmosphere makes the stay quite unique. The location was also convenient for exploring Vicksburg.
Unfortunately, there were several issues during our stay. The bathroom for one of the rooms was private but located across the hallway, which was not clearly stated in the reservation and was different from what we expected. The shower was also difficult to operate, and when I first touched it, a piece came off. We needed assistance from the staff to understand how it worked. In addition, there was no drinking water available in the cottage, so we had to go out and buy some ourselves. Overall, these issues made the stay less comfortable than expected.
