About this condo rental
Nestled in Barcelona, this lovely condo for $287 per night is a great option for your next break. Our newly-remodeled and extremely welcoming apartment, El Grec de Barcelona, combines all of the modern conveniences with a unique design and fabulous Modernist Period High Ceilings, Large Windows, Balconies and Hydraulic Floors. The apartment can sleep six: 2 bedrooms with King-sized beds, one with full bed, and a sofa bed for an additional adult guest or two small children. This flat is a classic possessing high ceilings, enormous windows, renovated hydraulic tile floors, but still offers access though a lift/elevator! The dining room and small adjunct living room are all filled with light from the enormous glass doors to the balconies that overlook Meditació down below... The apartment's location, the barrio of Eixample, is characterized by long straight streets, a strict grid pattern crossed by wide avenues, and square blocks with chamfered corners (named "illes" in Catalan, and "manzanas con chaflán" in Spanish). This was a visionary, pioneering design by Ildefons Cerdà, who considered traffic and transport along with sunlight and ventilation in coming up with his characteristic octagonal blocks, where the streets broaden at every intersection making for greater visibility, better ventilation and (today) some short-stay parking space. The grid pattern remains as a hallmark of Barcelona. The important needs of the inhabitants were incorporated into his plan, which called for markets, schools, hospitals every so many blocks. Today, most of the markets remain open in the spots they have been from the beginning. You will find something to suit every taste in this area, design and fashion shops, relaxing parks and a range of bars and cafes to have your morning coffee in. There are also a good number of restaurants, bars and discos for those looking for some of the nightlife Barcelona is so famous for. (World renowned TICKETS is a mere 10 minute walk- away!!!) In fact, there are so many tapas bars and restaurants in the vicinity of the apartment - and in Eixample in general- that you will find it hard to decide where to have your meal! Likewise, you will find it difficult to resist the temptation to stop and try out the pastries and breads at the local bakeries located around every corner of this city's most welcoming neighborhood... :-) **** Please note that some of the reviews posted here are for a previous property which had a terrace. The property now listed has two balconies and air conditioning, but NO TERRACE. **** Some parts of the Eixample were influenced by Modernist architects, chief among whom was Antoni Gaudí. His work in the Eixample includes the Casa Milà (nicknamed La Pedrera) and the Casa Batlló, both of which are on the wide Passeig de Gràcia, as well as the Sagrada Familia. The apartment's location, parallel to the main city thoroughfare of Gran Via and within a minute's walk of the metro line, allows you to be at all of Barcelona's famous landmarks within the blink of an eye. The Sagrada Familia Basílica is, for example, only seven minutes - five metro stops - away. And famous Paseo de Gracia, where Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are located, is in the same barrio of Eixample as our property. The Paseo and Gaudí houses are thus only a three minute - or three metro stops - ride away! Plus Plaza España, Fira Barcelona, the new commercial center Arenas de Barcelona, Montjuïc, and its 'Magic Fountain' are just a five minute walk - or one 1 minute metro - ride away! Even though the apartment is located near a busy street, two of the bedrooms' windows face the building's interior courts, and the master bedroom is windowless, so you experience absolutely NO street noise when sleeping at night. **** Please note that some of the reviews posted here are for a previous property which had a terrace. The property now listed has two balconies and air conditioning, but NO TERRACE. **** *** Also please note that the property has TWO CENTRAL A/C UNITS for cooling and heating. There are NO individual A/C units in our bedrooms. ***

This was our 2nd trip to Barcelona. Last visit we stayed a little to close to the action and had a hard time relaxing in our short-term rental. This time was MUCH better. This place is a few metro stops away from all the sites. It is walkable to Park Montjuic, which we did on our first day. We really felt like locals in this slightly less "fancy" neighborhood. There was still plenty of great eating places around (for much cheaper prices). We had a nice grocery shop about 50 yards away from our front door. The apartment itself had everything we needed. Cozy beds, a nice sitting area, two showers so we didn't need to share as much space (no simultaneous showers though if you want hot water). Our hosts were very responsive. The door got stuck on the laundry washer, and they fixed it promptly. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Great stay at Miguel’s property for a week in November. Located in a cool neighborhood close to so much where you truly get to soak in the Barcelona culture! What made this an even better experience was the advance communication with Miguel and check in/check out personal touch from Milena, who was so kind and helpful. Would highly recommend this property for a visit to Barcelona.

We very much enjoyed our stay here! The location is great and the apartment is fully equipped and very clean. Milena the property contact, met us upon arrival and took as much time as necessary to familiarize us with the apartment. From the moment of booking, the owner was particularly quick to respond, answer all questions, and give us a detailed list of nearby restaurants, stores etc. There were 5 of us and there was plenty of room. We would definitely recommend that you consider this location for a wonderful stay in Barcelona!

Check-in was seamless. The area has lots of restaurants and tapas bars to choose from. We stayed a week and walked everywhere. Milenà was a great source of information. One bedroom didn’t have a window and the other looked into an enclosed space. That turned out to be fine, because there was practically no street noise at night.

This beautiful apartment was perfect for our group of friends. It was the perfect amount of privacy, but had a nice common area for us to sit in. We had breakfast on the balcony each morning and relaxed on the couch with the doors open during our down time. Very conveniently located. We had a minor problem with the air conditioning, but the property manager fixed it right away! I would definitely stay here again.

We highly recommend this place. It’s in a great location. Close enough to all the tourist spots, but far enough to not be in all the noise and chaos. The metro is right around the corner.
There are great breakfast spots close by. Ugot, and Egg Lab were 2 of our favorites. There are also several grocery stores near by.
Milena and Miguel are wonderful hosts and super attentive and proactive about communication.
The air conditioning works great. We were there in the summer months when it was really hot, but we were very comfortable at the apartment.
We would definitely stay here again.

My family had a lovely time! Milena met us and welcomed us with helpful tips and advice. The property was in a bustling and very safe area with a market around the corner and several restaurants. We loved the balconies and how we were away from the main tourist craziness yet still close to city center. The property was well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Gracias!

-The kitchen is fine for basic meals like breakfast but not great for cooking dinner, but there is a gourmet market very close where you can buy prepared foods.
-Larger towels and a few larger pans would be appreciated.

We are two friends who live in different countries and meet up once a year and had a wonderful stay at the El Grec apartment.
The apartment is clean and bright and accommodated all our needs.
The little terrace was perfect to enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine.
As others have said the location couldn't be better with restaurants, grocery stores and transportation all within a 5 minute walk.
Miguel was most attentive to any questions we had prior to our arrival.
It was nice to be met on our arrival by Milena and was able to check us in slightly before 16:00 which was very much appreciated. She took us round the apartment and showed us how things worked.
All in all a perfect place to stay and enjoy the sites of Barcelona.
Would definitely stay again, perhaps next year!

A pleasant and convenient apartment in a nice neighborhood. Grocery, bakery, coffee shops, shopping mall, restaurants and metro stops all within a few blocks. Very easy to use the subway to go from this apartment to most places you would want to visit in Barcelona. The french doors and balconies allow wonderful light into the common rooms and interaction with the street life below.

The unit is very spacious and in a perfect location. EVERYTHING is in walking distance which was wonderful and the unit is surrounded by lovely restaurants. I found management to be very responsive and kind before and during our stay.

The property was clean with enough room for 4 ladies to be comfortably accommodated. We loved the location as it was safe and within walking distance to wonderful restaurants and shopping. The train was also a short walk away.
Miguel provided us with a list of grocery stores and restaurants prior to our arrival. Milena went over and above to ensure we had everything we needed. She was even there when we checked out and assisted in getting a taxi.

On the tenth floor of this Sant Antoni apartment building there is an urban oasis that will give you the home stay of your life. From here you can easily walk to Raval, Poble Sec, Eixample, and the Gothic quarter. As the subway is at your doorstep, all parts of Barcelona are accessible to you, but it’s really worth the stroll even to the furthest neighbourhoods. Even the airport bus, Aerobus, is only minutes away. And day trips from the train stations at Placa Catalunya, Placa Espanya, or Sants Station are equally easy from this location.
When we arrived, our check-in experience was most welcoming and friendly. We appreciated the genuine kindness. We were also completely satisfied with the communication with the property management both before and during our stay.
The apartment itself is a clean and modern environment that has amenities which will have you doing fewer chores and more enjoying the city, for example, a dishwasher and a washer and dryer (and clothesline).
The bedrooms are comfortable and have plenty of closet space. The living areas are sizeable, but you’ll likely only need them if it rains! We found that we spent the majority of our time on the massive rooftop terrace. Here we felt as though we were on top of Barcelona. We watched sunrises, sunsets; we listened to the the sound of the nearby schoolchildren playing, or the music of a very talented trumpet player practicing in a neighboring building; we ate nearly every meal on the terrace and sipped our coffees, or cava, or fresh-squeezed orange juice. Being on this terrace was not just our favourite aspect of the apartment, but our favourite experience in Barcelona.
While our experience was a complete joy, we only had one regret, and that was not staying longer. Thank you to the hosts, property management, and site management for making us feel at home during our stay in Barcelona.

We had a wonderful month of March with this apartment serving as our home base. The location was ideal, walking distance to the waterfront and Gothic core( 25 min) , the subway line was next to the apartment ( which took us everywhere). The apartment was bright and airy and modern. Beds were very comfortable. We really appreciated the king sized bed for that long of a stay. Wi fi was excellent.
The most unique and fabulous feature was the spacious and private rooftop terrace. We had great views of the city, relaxing with a glass of wine.
There were numerous restaurants, cafes, supermarkets close by.
From our first inquiry about the property to our last communication reimbursement of our damage deposit, Miguel's responses were swift, helpful and very much appreciated. Communication with Milena was excellent as well as her tour. Prior to arrival in Barcelona, Miguel forwarded a list of recommended restaurants( which we tried, thank you) and supermarkets close by. In all our times renting thru VRBO , Miguel has undoubtedly been the best in communicating with us . We truly appreciate that service.
We hope to return to Barcelona and will again stay at this great spot.

A wonderful experience even before we arrived in Barcelona! Great arrival instructions, tons of information and even restaurant suggestions arrived in our inbox before we even arrived in Barcelona. Milena greeted us with warmth even though our arrival was 2 hours later than planned. And the next day, she showed us around the old town of Barcelona, giving us tips and history we wouldn't have known otherwise. What a bonus to any new visitor to Barcelona.
The apartment is cute, functional and quite large for a family to stay. We loved the indoor/outdoor feel of the terrace and dining area. Despite it being January, we had many sunny afternoons enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace. And the views are magnificent!!!
We love to cook and really enjoyed the large and well equipped kitchen - I did have to buy a couple of small basics like wooden spoons and serving spoons (found them at a local Chinese store, so it didn't break the bank).
The metro is right out the door, but the downtown area is only a couple kilometers walk. Local supermarkets, bakeries, tapas places ,(try Le Clar for a warm welcome). We even found a fitness centre a block away (Anytime Fitness).
My only negative is that the bed linens and towels need upgrading. But that certainly didn't distract from our stay at all.

She was thorough in showing me everything in the apartment, and also thorough in showing me around the city. The apartment is in a great location with countless restaurants all within walking distance. The Metro is directly outside of the property, giving easy access to all the major tourist spots. Once you get in, you do need to go up a flight of stairs, take the elevator to 6, and walk up another flight of stairs to the apartment. Given the heat wave in late July/ early August, it was quite warm even with the AC on as the sun was beaming through the ceiling, but hey what else would you expect if you are getting a ton of natural lighting? The apartment was clean and well decorated, with an open concept of the dining room, kitchen, and living room. The kitchen was equipped with a good amount of utensils and necessary items for quick meals. The master bedroom was good in size with black out automatic shades. And last but not least, the terrace was more than I could ask for. I've spent countless nights on the terrace watching the sunset while enjoying a glass of wine. The view is breathtaking, with the olive and lime trees adding an extra charm. This is a one of the few apartments with all the conveniences, including elevator access, AC, washer AND dryer, and dishwasher. Would love to stay here again the next time I am back in BCN!

We had a rooftop deck all to ourselves, spectacular. Adorable condo with updated kitchen in a perfect location in Barcelona. Only minor complaint would be a better shower head. As part of our stay we got a free tour from Milena she was awesome. And Maribel checked us in and out and was very informative. We had a wonderful time, thank you Miguel

As many of the preceding reviews have noted, this is a wonderful roof-top apartment with extensive views of Barcelona. Yes, there are stairs that you have to schlep your baggage up but the rewards at the top are worth it! Manuel, Milena, and Isabel provided top-notch and professional service, answering our emails within minutes. The tour with Milena was fantastic, comprehensive and informative. It was our first visit to Barcelona and we will definitely stay here on our return visit.

This quaint exquisite building houses the rental in the Attic. You take a ride on an elevator to the top and then you have an exceptional view of the city. You can sit on the patio and drink Sangria that you can buy at the store just down the street or you can eat at the restaurant at the bottom of the building. Very much worth the stay!

The apartment is modern, fully equipped for our needs, ideally located next to the metro and walking distance from the centre of Barcelona. The private roof terrace is a added bonus with fantastic views of Montjuic. Communication was excellent, and we were provided with lots of practical advice, including where to eat out and how to travel around. We were provided with a free tour from Milena who is an excellent guide. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Our party of 3 adults enjoyed 6 nights in this wonderful penthouse apartment. The apartment had a real equipped kitchen, and a good sized refrigerator. We were not thinking that we would need air conditioning in October, but it was unseasonable warm when we were there, so it was refreshing to come home to very active days out and about. Beds were comfortable. Milena met us at the apartment and took the time to really show us how to use things in the apartment, which was very helpful!
Location is so great, within a 20 minute walk to La Rambla and many other historic attractions. Also a 3 minute walk to a metro stop.
Our very favorite thing was to come home at the end of a long day, and enjoy a bottle of Cava on the rooftop terrace. We hope that when we are able to return to Barcelona, we will be lucky enough to be able stay at this wonderful apartment again!

We spent a week in Barcelona at Miguel's home. It's a well appointed modern apartment with a wonderful large rooftop terrace. The neighborhood is nice and safe and very local. The subway is literally on the corner and the tourist hotspots (near Las Ramblas for example) are only a few stops away. We ended exploring other neighborhoods (e.g. Grazia) and found it easy to get around from the apartment. Milena as a host is excellent. She gave us a great, very local and very informative guided tour. And she also showed up to let us in our apartment even though our flight arrived after midnight.
Make sure you ask the host to let you try unlocking the door. That's the only thing that takes a little getting used to. Just requires a little jiggering the key and it is no problem.

This was a wonderful apartment with a rooftop view over the city. The apartment was furnished with modern furniture and an updated kitchen, located in a beautiful part of town with easy access to metros and shopping. Miguel was incredibly prompt and responsive in all our email communication. Enjoy!

We absolutely loved staying in this apartment. The views off the deck are nothing short of spectacular! The apartment itself is small but beautifully renovated and very comfortable. The location was great and we walked to all of the sites. There were also lots of markets nearby so we could pick up food easily to bring home. Milena was very helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this apartment!

This apartment is nothing short of incredible – as others have mentioned, the penthouse deck with its stunning panoramic views of Barcelona makes you want to spend your entire vacation sunning yourself out there, drinking espresso, and watching the birds fly overhead. Every morning my husband and I would get up early, spend time enjoying the deck while it was cool and very quiet outside and then go out for the hours of walking that we did in the city. We’d return in the afternoon, hot and sweaty from all the walking, take a shower in the updated bathroom (also with a view!), and have a siesta in the nicely air conditioned bedroom. The location of this apartment is excellent – it is very close to the metro, and when you step outside you are on a wide boulevard that is very nice to walk along. It is in close proximity to a variety of restaurants, and centrally located so you walk almost anywhere you want to go, if you choose to.
When we first arrived at the apartment, we were greeted by Milena and Mary Bell who were both very warm and friendly, and made us feel at home right away. The next day Milena took us around Barcelona and it was a great introduction to the city that helped us get oriented to many of the sites that we later explored over the coming week. Miguel answered all emails very promptly and the whole rental experience was handled very professionally.
My husband and I had not taken a vacation alone without kids for 20 years. I am happy to say that this vacation was very special for us, and I attribute a lot of that to the apartment. I should note that we booked it in January for July, and a lot of the summer was already booked up by then, so book early if you want to get this amazing place for a memorable trip to Barcelona.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment. The best part by far was lounging on the terrace after an enjoyable day walking for miles all over the city. We felt like we were in our own little world looking down on such a lovely city. I was always so pleasantly surprised at the speed with which Miguel answered any question I had. Milena gave us a good tour of the Gothic Quarter.

We stayed 8 nights in this wonderful flat . It is a delightful modern comfortable and light filled flat perched on top of a 19 th century building . The terrace is enormous and has views across the city . We lay on the very comfortable recliners and relaxed after a day's site seeing . The metro is right next to the building which is very convenient and it takes minutes to be in the heart of the city .The art nouveau lift is beautiful . Our tour with Milena was very interesting and both she and Maribel took great care of us . Nothing was too much trouble for them . We would come back in a heart beat !
