There was construction that we were not made aware of. The room was not clean and there was hair in the bathroom. I would not recommend this hotel.

Overall not great even considering the price. Construction outside meant the parking lot and rooms seemed to have a layer of dirt/dust. Flooring was buckled and room seemed strongly of bleach when we arrived.

There’s a trick to opening the door with your room key. Not an easy situation. Had to get the owner up to help. The room was very cold and the heat did not work. The egg sandwiches were available read, keep frozen until prepared,” and were sitting out, totally thawed, not even cold.

This budget motel is the best! They provide a good breakfast-especially good breakfast sandwiches--comfy beds, soft, fluffy towels, plentiful tv channels and well-equipped bathrooms. We've stayed in serveral other SLO motels, but this is by-far our favorite.

University Inn is my ALL TIME FAVORITE. The customer service is 10, cleanliness 10 Hands down The Best motel I've stayed at. I highly recommend this business to all travelers. Awesome people.

The beds and inside the room was clean, room bit noisy. The property mentioned continental breakfast free, I would don’t deceive by this. They just had few items from Costco on the counter.

The room was cheap and the manager at check-in was great...that's about it. Stains on the sheets, uncomfortable pillows and beds. If ever back in the area, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Sheila was absolutely fantastic! She was so very helpful in every way. Rooms were clean and as shown in pictures. Love that this Inn is so close to all downtown San Luis so shopping, dining, nightlife is all easily walkable. Also very close the the university!

The place location was great but the beds were terrible. Haven't woken up with a bad back in years! Also the Wi-Fi although free is non existent and so slow when it works.

Stayed there one night, but was pleased. The area is quiet and our bed was comfortable. Pillows were comfortable as well.

Price was reasonable; included continental breakfast, free parking and a pool. Comfortable bed, good tv (cable), helpful and friendly staff. I slept soundly both nights. My companion heard the refrigerator all night and doors slamming but has difficulty getting good sleep even at home. I heard no noises and slept well. Nice shower pressure and hot water.

Nobody at checking. Nobody replies when ringing the bell. You have to call on the phone for someone to show up. The whole place is run down and completely overpriced. Avoid if you can.

We felt the University Inn was a good value for the money. We stayed recently to visit our daughter at CalPoly. It wasn't fancy and is a motel type set up but it was quiet while we were there except for some sort of generator that was outside our bathroom window so we kept the bathroom door closed at night so it was quieter in our room. The beds were comfortable and check in was quick but we didn't see any desk staff when we left so we just left our key in basket that said "put keys here". Our only main complaint would be the vinyl floors were very dirty. We dropped some water on the flooring and wiped it up with a Kleenex and it was very dirty. We kept our socks on after that. If management could remind housekeeping to mop after each guest, this could be an easy fix and one that guests will appreciate. But other than that we enjoyed our stay.

They gave us the room almost at 5:00 pm, because housekeeper still working on it to clean up, never mentioned about breakfast time, around 9:35 am I went and said that breakfast time was over, the front desk lady not informed well, very rude lady. Housekeepers were so nice and polite Never again planning to make a reservation here

If you want PEACE & QUIET, this is NOT the place for you!!! Called the manager once at 2:30am, and the noise still kept going. They should also mop their room floors as well, because our socks got filthy black as well as our feet….

Moving son into Cal Poly so was looking for reasonably priced place to stay not too far from campus. Plus- large room so plenty of space to store bags from unliaded car. Microwave and minifridge in room. There was also some AC. Parking available. Very basic grab and go breakfast included. Banana, danish and egg and sausage biscuit Con- AC unit was very loud. Floors could use a good wet mop as feet and socks were dirty after walking on it. Wifi was spotty for connection. Toilet needed a new flapper as it wiyld run if didn't go back and jiggle handle. Beds were just ok for comfort level. A little more breakfast variety would be nice.

Hotels can be hard to find in SLO on big Cal Poly weekends and this place knows it. They’ve got your money and don’t seem to care about your stay at all. Service was terrible and the manager is downright rude. $300 / night for a tiny bed with mini pillows. Parking lot has deteriorated to a sandy mess which tracks into the rooms. If the hotel is sold out, it’ll be a tight squeeze to fit your car into the lot. Service staff let themselves into the room and moved stuff around despite the fact that there is a sign at check-in that service only takes place if you request it. AC system blasts freezing air across the bed, then lets you sweat for a while before blasting cold air across you again. I’ll never stay here again.
