Charming hotel with a great location! I stayed at Hotel Cornell for two nights during a solo trip and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The hotel has beautiful old-world French-inspired decor that gives it a unique and cozy character.
The location is excellent—you can easily walk to Chinatown, Pier 33, and many other popular attractions. It's also conveniently close to both BART and cable car stations, making it easy to get around the city.
The staff were friendly (night shift lady and overnight staff Romel who helped me with the best way to book tours), welcoming, and always willing to help. The breakfast was simple but satisfying, with enough variety to start the day. I also appreciated the added sense of security, as the main entrance is kept locked and guests must ring the bell for access.
Another bonus is the abundance of restaurants nearby, offering plenty of dining options within walking distance. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for solo travelers and anyone looking for a charming place to stay in downtown San Francisco.
