Check in was slow.. check out was fast! Employee interactions were great! Cleanliness could have been better…i.e. toilet. Very comfortable stay! Great outside bar food service. Great restaurant service! Could have been better about parking information. Looking forward to staying again!

I love the Padre Hotel. The staff is excellent and very accommodating. I really appreciate that they have a restaurant/bar & coffee shop in the lobby. I haven't been to the roof top lounge yet but I am hoping to as the weather warms up.

Our stay here was wonderful. The customer service was really great whether it was at the front desk or the bar, we were taken care of. There was a bottle of champagne in the room on ice and we also received a free drink from the bar too. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The water was nice and hot and the soaps were really nice. The location was great for walking to local bars and venues. Would definitely stay here again.

I'm a Bakersfield native and was living there when the Padre was originally refurbished and open as a luxury boutique hotel, so when returning to town to visit family, I was looking forward to staying there. The staff was very friendly, but that's where the positives end. Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit run down and needs another refurbish. The amenities are lacking, or inconsistent. We stayed for 3 days and simple things like bathroom soap, coffee cups, and tissue were never replaced. The closet had no hangers. The internet never worked. Every item on the room service menu was listed as "out of stock", and the cafe closed at 11 AM so there was no on-site food option unless you wanted sit in the bar/restaurant. And to top it all off, the room phone didn't work, so I couldn't even call the front desk for help. Each time I discovered an issue, I had to go downstairs. I know some of these things may seem small, but when you're paying $640 for a 3 night stay, it's frustrating when the basics are lacking. What's not basic, however, is sleep, and the Padre is not a good hotel for sleeping. It's very noisy! Between the 2 onsite bars, and the club across the street, it's impossible to sleep before 1 AM. And the old building has loud plumbing and HVAC, so you still wake up all night. I hate writing bad reviews, especially about a iconic old hotel in my home town, but I was really disappointed and will definitely take my money elsewhere the next time I'm visiting.

Although historically interesting, the hotel needs to up its service and maintenance games. When we arrived, the valet arranged to park our car ($15/day) and brought out a luggage cart. We were surprised to learn that he had no intention of handling our luggage. Instead, my 73-year-old husband had to retrieve the heavy luggage from the trunk of the car and onto the cart. The cart was old and hard to navigate, barely fit into the elevator, and was hard to move over the (soiled) hall rugs, in/out of the small elevator, and through the door of our room. Same situation at departure. There was a slight musty bathroom odor and a dog odor in the room - is the hotel pet friendly? The windows would not open; the turn handles had been removed. Though slightly hard, the bed was comfortable, though the linens were a bit tired. The toilet made a loud knocking noise when flushed. We did not fry the lobby bar or restaurant, though appreciated the free drink order.

It’s a lovely unique property centrally located. Rooms are clean and quiet. Bed is super comfy. The staff is kind and accommodating and really seem to take pleasure in helping their guests. Have stayed there 3 times and it’s become my go to hotel when I visit home.

Rooms had a very nice design, comfortable & restaurant in house has excellent food. Staff was great, Valet fantastic! Overall everyone very welcoming, nice to enjoy that friendly face after a long day of travels. (Unlike some chain hotels)

We usually opt for a suite hotel, but we decided to try this boutique hotel. Very comfortable bed with high quality linens. The shower was fabulous! We were only there for 1 night but would definitely stay again.³
