The property was fine. I think the price should have been reduced as no breakfast was offered at this band b

Overpriced for what was there. The owner was virtually absent. The room needed quite a bit of tlc. Will not return or recommend.

Great place in Stratford. Close to theatres and all the restaurants. Historic and beautiful house with accommodating hosts. Definitely recommend !

The owner was very friendly. Location was excellent. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and theaters

Easy walking distance to the Avon Theatre and downtown. Lovely property and rooms. It is an older building so a little noisy. Can hear other guests walking around, plumbing, etc. With that said, would stay again.

We couldn't be more pleased with our stay. Staff was gracious and friendly, our room was clean and comfortable. We were able to walk to shops and dining and the theatre. The Stone Maiden has tremendous warmth and character, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I liked the location and convenience to the theatre and downtown areas. Definitely a rather relaxed location. I never met the host until the last day at least I assumed he was the host/owner. Some difficulty sleeping because of external noise both outside and from other rooms.

I can't wait to go back to Stone Maiden--it is an absolute gem in terms of proximity and price to all the great stuff in Stratford! Unfortunately, it was raining during our stay so we didn't take advantage of the short walk to the Festival Theater, but it is very doable and would be a lovely walk.
We stayed in the Penthouse, which I am so looking forward to staying in again! It was quiet and cozy, with the rain pattering lightly on the skylights, I slept like a baby, which is unusual for me in B&Bs or hotels. My son loved the enormous bathtub and we are both in love with Marley (hostess extraordinaire!).

Walking distance to restaurants and shops, a much further walk to the Festival Theatre. We needed a twin room but unfortunately the room is in poor shape. Not a luxurious experience with formica countertop, stick-on vinyl tiles and dirty carpet. We also got woken up when the guests next door came in at 11:30pm, slamming doors and running showers until past midnight. Not a restful sleep. Nevertheless the main rooms are beautiful.

Stone Maiden Inn is a lovely place to stay. Tim was a wonderful host.

The history of the Inn was very appreciated. The grounds and gardens were in wonderful shape. Despite some staffing challenges, we were greeted and given some helpful information. Just AFTER booking, we were notified that breakfast services could not be provided, so we were prepared. However, ample fresh and delicious coffee was available.
The bed was less comfortable than I hoped.
Thank-you Stone Maiden inn staff for you efforts.

The condition of the property is shabby and it was hard to tell if it was just shabby or also not as clean as it should be. There was a large yellow stain on one of the comforters at the head of the bed, and some marks on one of the bedsheets. The owner barely spoke to us, didn't ask anything about our plans or offer any help with our stay. Strangely, he put the charge through on the credit card without telling us he was going to do so, and consequently the wrong person was charged for one of the rooms. This was done before we were even in the rooms instead of at check out. When asked to reverse the incorrect charge he said he could not do so. We knew they aren't doing breakfasts at present but were promised tea/coffee, but the morning we and other guests tried to make it there was no water for the machine, just a big empty jug. I tried to get water from two water machines but it came out in such a thin trickle we just went out to a restaurant. This was a very disappointing stay and not at all what we have usually encountered at other B&Bs in lovely Stratford.

This property is quaint The owner is very welcoming. The room smelled very musty. Bathroom could use some updating.

We were very disappointed the tiles in bathroom kept popping off. Complimentary tea and coffee machine not working, carpets needed cleaning, etc.,etc.
The good was convenience to theatre and restaurants.

A lovely and charming hotel in the heart of the downtown. Loved our stay, and the check-in and check-out process was easy-peasy!

The bathroom had not been cleaned. The bottom sheet was stained and did not fit on the bed.

We arrived a little early, but no one was there. We rang the bell as indicated to do so, for assistance, still no one showed up. The room looked clean, but when pulled the bed linen, the sheets were dirty and had blood stains on them. No one around to ask for new sheets. To be at a b&b and not have some sort of breakfast was disappointing. It was very expensive for what you get. I do not recommend it.
3.0
Although the room was very clean there is no air conditioning or fan
They no longer serve breakfast because of staff issues but considering the cost of the room you could still provide at least a continental breakfast
The carpets and rugs need a good shampoo which would help with the reduction of the smell of mildew

We stayed here pre-Covid. The location is great as you can walk to 2 of the theatres and downtown, so we booked it again. We arrived late afternoon and both lay down on the bed to read. I noticed a spider walking across the page of the book I was reading, slammed it shut to kill it. I am an arachnophobe so this was horrible. It is really unusual to have a spider on the bed. I started to look around to make sure there weren't anymore spiders. I saw a large web spun around the top of one of the posts on the 4-poster bed. When was this room cleaned last? There was no WiFi when we arrived and only one TV station. On our first visit there was a TV in the billiards room on the ground floor but that had been removed. It took minutes for hot water to make it up to our room. The bathroom sink drained VERY slowly. The faucet in the bathtub/shower worked but it felt like it was about to fall off. Although the location is great, it is not worth a second trip.

Very rigid check in made me miss a post show chat. No wifi and no breakfast. Tea and coffee set up unsatisfactory. No telephone number to call only email and non responsive. I had a bat in my room the first night and fortunately was capable of removing it because there is noone there and there was no response to my email - not even an apology the next day.

While the building itself was interesting, they don’t provide glasses in the room, a call had to be made to the owner to know what room we were to be in and frankly the bed was too high and to get into, no stool provided.

Bedcover stained. Bathroom floor disgustingly needed
vacuuming/washing. Could not phone the inn as their
internet was down. Cold water tap in bathroom began running brown. Unable to rate service as there wasn’t any.
I would not recommend Stone Maiden Inn.

No issue. Decent location. Short walk to town. Overpriced. No breakfast.

The property advertises that it is a B&B on their website and travel sites such as Expedia. After booking, the confirmation email informed us that they are no longer serving breakfast. When trying to cancel and get a refund, I was informed I was out of luck…either stay or don’t stay, but their will be no refund or discount. Upon arriving, and being shown to our room, the room had a strong musty odor that did not dissipate even with the windows open.
I would not spend the money on this location again. I could have spent half the amount to stay in a place that was room only.

This inn was a marvel with a marvelous host. We felt transported into Victorian luxury with stately rooms with very high ceilings and just the right amount of décor and furnishings to make us feel comfortable. Our host Tim was especially welcoming and kind, establishing a nice report from the moment we pulled up. We would highly recommend this as a lovely (and convenient to downtown and shopping) inn to stay at while in Stratford.

The owner was helpful and informative when I had a car issue. A lovely old property.

No breakfast. No sugar for tea and coffee. No washcloths in rooms

Our first room had dirty sheets on the bed and makeup smears on the floor. It was also quite dusty.
We were moved to another room where there was broken glass on the bathroom floor, a used contact lens beside the toilet and a dirty rim in the toilet bowl.
The wall air conditioner was about 40 years old and put out warm air. We couldn’t use the ceiling fan because it was caked in dust.
The settee in the dining room is covered in dog hair.
We forfeited our second night and went to another hotel.

The place is interesting but dirty. Service is non-existent.Breakfast was canceled due to insufficient staffing.
Would not recommend it !

Booked originally in March and sometime recently the bed and breakfast became a bed no breakfast. No warning or notification prior to or even at checkin.
Host was pleasant but only saw them for 5 minutes at checkin.
Bathroom had no toilet paper, one towel, and was not clean (should evaluate the cleaning service).
Close to all the things we came to town for and lovely, I’d dated, decor. Wouldn’t rebook though and for the cost wasn’t impressed.

Old country charm. Inconvenient with no elevator and with steep stairs and shallow steps. No maid service on second day out of two day stay.

Beware, we made this reservation at the end of March for our stay 2 months later. The Inn was advertised as a bed and breakfast. We received an email five days before leaving for our trip, letting us know that the Inn does not offer breakfast any longer due to staffing issues. We were advised that we could cancel our reservation or keep the reservation but the rate would remain the same even without breakfast. We kept our reservation because of the lack of notice before our trip. We had very little time to change our plans. I called the owner twice, asking a question about a microwave in the room since we decided to bring our breakfast after we were alerted that breakfast was no longer included and never received a return call. We saw the owner when we checked in, ran into the owner as we were leaving one day, and asked for additional towels but never saw him at any other time. I left a message with the housekeeper to ask the owner what was needed for checkout; she said she would ask him to call us. We didn't hear from him, so I called and left a message and once again did not receive a return call. The room served our purpose but was tired, with peeling wallpaper, and had two inconveniently located electrical outlets.

Fabulous heritage property and located conveniently within walking distance to all activities.

This property is bit too rustic for my taste. We talked to the proprietor about restaurant options, but it was impossible to remember them from our quick discussion. A printed list would be very helpful.
