great place, fantastic staff, better sound insulation needed :)

brilliant central location and the staff were all exceptionally polite and accommodating too which is one of the most important factors in my opinion

weekend stays for business on a Monday may pose a challenge due to the noise from the bar. Ask for the second floor rooms unless you’re there for leisure and a night out

New Black Lion Hotel excellent choice for our stay.

Hotel located in a pub, very central, really few minutes walk from Victoria station and the cathedral, Hotel area completely restored, our room was really nice abd quiet, excellent bathroom. Staff 24h on site and also breakfast has been simple but very nice.

One night in Manchester

The location, good breakfast, friendly staff, good value for the money

When I got to the room, it was "clean", but then I saw that there was a lot of dust everywhere, and something was peeling off the bed. No hairdryer in the room.

Modern, clean, friendly, great location and friendly staff

The room was excellent. I expected that there might be noise from the bar at night, and I heard nothing. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were excellent, polite and didn’t make me feel odd for being a (middle-aged) solo female guest. This means a lot.

Nothing… this was an excellent place to stay for either work or pleasure. It’s approximately a 20 minute walk from the station, through the main shopping area. The price is amazing value for money.

Fantastic value, very well looked after.

Very enjoyable quiz in the bar the night we checked in, room was gorgeous, everything we could need was provided. Staff were very helpful and friendly, fabulous breakfast options next morning and the staff offered to hold our luggage after check out. If I am back in Manchester I will definitely stay here again 😁

Only the weather 🤣 absolutely nothing negative to say about the Black Lion.

Excellent city stay

Very modern room, bed so comfy and shower one of the best. The pub itself was welcoming and its staff lovely and friendly. Breakfast was really good and so laid back. The location was spot on, a 5-ish minute walk from Deansgate, lots of car parks close by with Salford Central train station no more than ten minutes away by foot.

Modernes Hotel mit super Frühstück und toller Lage!

Schöne und moderne Zimmer, bequeme Betten, leckeres Frühstück und top Lage. Für junge Leute super geeignet.

Die Zimmer waren etwas hellhörig und das Hotel liegt an einer gut befahrenen Straße, wer hier empfindlich ist, könnte Probleme bekommen.

Not again!

It was clean

The staf is very disappointing, they really don’t care about you, we arrived on Monday at 12 and they didn’t accommodate us even if the hotel was quite empty. The food is a joke, we made the mistake to eat dinner here; the burger was so simple, without cheese even if I ordered it, without tomato because they run out (at the breakfast was the same, no grilled tomatoes. I am sure that we could found better hotel around the area.

Quiet, clean rooms, close to city centre with great drinks and breakfast.

Good location, with handy bar downstairs. Excellent choice at breakfast. Bed very comfortable and clean room.

Lovely stay, just as advertised.

Staff was really helpful and friendly! A lovely lady offered to carry our luggage up the stairs, the guy at check-in went through the brief in detail and even offered to change our room to a bigger one. The room was exactly like the pictures and spacious too. Location is very central, staff is great, and property is worth the value for money. Thank you!

Found a few hair strands on the bedding and the hot water went off for some hours in the early morning when we were trying to rush somewhere, otherwise, it was a great stay!

Sleeping and having breakfast in a beautiful English Pub

Fantastische Kombination aus originalem English Pub und sehr guter Schlafmöglichkeit. Wunderbares Personal, exzellente Lage und sehr freundliches Personal! Frühstück geschmacklich 1A!(bis auf den Kaffee!)

Leider nur Instant-Kaffee und kein Filterkaffee! Frühstück leider ohne Nachschlag und nicht als Büffet. Aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau...

Comfortable and good value for money perfect for a short stay in downtown Manchester.

A lovely freshly cooked breakfast… was it necessary to have an additional charge for a machine generated latte ?

Nice room, close parking. All ok.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean.

There was a lot of road noise. Breakfast didn’t start until 8:00 which is really late on a workday; too late to mean we could have breakfast.

Great stay at a great place

The young lady at the bar that checked us in was fantastic although I didn't get her name, the young, blonde girl was polite and friendly and very helpful. It is the little things that go a long way.

The fire alarm went off at 7:30am with no explanation as to why so we was outside for a good 15-20 minutes but not anybodies fault.

Comfortable stay in a central MCR location

The Black Lion's location was perfect for our short stay in Manchester/Salford. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The room was clean and spacious, while the bed was very comfortable.

I had asked for a quiet room, but our room was at the front, so we heard road noise. Also the bathroom light was motion sensored, which meant that it went on in the middle of the night.

Very comfortable.

The room was incredibly comfortable. Shower was great. Breakfast was unexpectedly lovely. Good for a short stay in MCR.

Walking in was not the most welcoming. 2 staff members were smoking at the entrance to the pub, so initially I thought I was in the wrong place, or that the rooms had a separate entrance and reception. However the man at the bar who checked me in was welcoming. Could do with a safe in the room.

Great price value

The room was modern and clean. All the staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good and well cooked. Although our room was above a noisy fan, it went off around 11pm, so we slept well. The heating system worked properly, the room was very comfy, and I liked the bed very much. Thank you, Diane!

They could improve the coffee quality or maybe change the coffee machine.

Sound but fairly basic hotel accessed via a bar. Good breakfast and fair value for money.

The location was convenient for the centre. The room was pleasant, spacious and clean. It was also surprisingly quiet. The staff were pleasant. The breakfast was good. The room temperature control was effective and the windows were also openable.

I wasn't expecting to have to check in in a noisy bar and sign the paperwork, etc., on a sticky bar amongst worse for wear punters. I couldn't hear the information being given to me because the music was so loud. The room was good but the pillows are deteriorating. The room did not have a hair dryer, telephone or any sanitary facilities. During the night and in the morning, cigarette smoke came into the bathroom through the sink.

Poor

The location was super handy to walk into the city centre (10 mins walk). 24hr car park opposite for £10. The breakfast included was nice. Room was a good size.

Check-in was very slow. Unfortunately we had someone walk into our room during our stay as they had checked another guest into our room. Not good. Also restaurant is meant to serve food untill 8pm and staff had told us aslong as we order before 7.50pm it's ok and we can bring food to our room. We went down to order food at 7.50 to be told the staff needed to check with the chef first. Then he came back to us to say the chef wasn't there as he had left to go work in their sister restaurant.
