Second time we have stayed at the Black Lion and we will definitely be staying again. Great location for visiting our son, nice bar area and breakfast is really good and ample portion size. Staff are really friendly and we would like to mention Abby in particular who looked after us on Saturday morning and couldn't do enough to help us

The hotel location was great in relation to the city centre.
The down side was it being on top of a pub...which i knew when I booked it..but didn't realise the world cup was on and England was playing...the noise outside the hotel was horrendous as we had to sleep with the windows open due to the very hot spell of weather.
The breakfast at the hotel was decent and the staff were very accommodating.
No air con and being on the 2nd floor was a killer.
Noise outside, no air con so had to sleep with windows open...under normal weather conditions and windows closed then it could have been fine.
